When BTS Vocals Met K-Drama

As a K-drama enthusiast and a BTS army whose life was forever changed when Jimin belted out that iconic “Nae pi ttam nunmul,” in BST, nothing rocks our world harder than when BTS sings a K-drama OST. In the famous words of Hannah Montana, “It is the best of both worlds and we live for it.”

As celebration of this collaboration, here are all the K-drama OSTs by BTS that you should put on your playlist.

With You by Jimin and Ha Sungwoon for Our Blues

The news of Jimin’s first K-drama OST sent social media into a happy and excited meltdown. Fans were already pumped for the return of Kim Woo-bin and the stellar cast and Jimin’s OST was the icing on the cake.

The song lyrics, written in both English and Korean, are simply a masterpiece and Jimin and Sungwon’s vocals blend perfectly together. The vocals in this song are so beautiful, that it can only be described as an ascension to heaven experience.

Stay Alive by Jungkook and Prod Suga for the group’s webtoon, ‘7Fates: CHAKHO’

Bts proved that magic and history are what happens when a talented music producer meets an outstanding vocalist. Bts doesn’t do anything half-heartedly and they gave their 110% in this webtoon OST.

Jungkook’s vocals delivered the emotions behind the song perfectly and we are still in awe of his massive vocal power that is as smooth as butter. Meanwhile, Suga, who keeps producing hit after hit, reminded the world why he is one of the most sought-after music producers. The song continues to break records leaving no doubt that he is indeed the golden maknae.

Yours by Jin for Jirisan

Mr. Worldwide handsome didn’t disappoint in his first solo K-drama OST which acted as the main theme song for Jirisan. Jin showcased his wide-belting singing ability in this emotional ballad and by the end of the song we all wanted to give him a warm hug.

The delicate tenor of his voice heightened the emotions in the drama and we can understand why he is described as the “actor of singing.”

Christmas Tree by Kim Taehyung (V) for Our Beloved Summer

Our social butterfly V was happy to sing an OST for his Wooga squad friend Choi Woo-Shik’s drama and it was perfect in every sense. Taehyung’s sensual baritone in this romantic ballad worked perfectly to bring out the nostalgia and longing the two exes in the drama had for each other.

The song evoked the emotions so well that we nearly called our high school sweethearts. It is no surprise that ‘Christmas Tree’ is this year’s longest-charting male idol song on Melon, South Korea’s largest streaming platform.

Sweet Night by Kim Taehyung (V) for Itaewon Class

This is another fan favorite by our OST king Kim Taehyung. This acoustic indie-pop ballad is a work of art for the way it manages to be heartbreaking yet comforting at the same time.

It resonated with the main character’s story and played a huge role in further popularizing the show. It continues to be one of the most-streamed Korean OSTs on Spotify and breaking records on different streaming platforms across the world.

It’s Definitely You by Kim Taehyung (V) and Jin for Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth

In this soft and catchy tune V teamed up with his fellow member Jin and their voices complement each other so well. It is always fun to see new BTS subunits and we continue to be suckers for this TaeJin duet.

Taehyung also made his acting debut in this drama so it will always be a special moment for army and BTS.
