What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim (Philippines) – Episode 3 Recap & Review

Someone Like Kim

What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim Episode 3 starts with Brandon telling Secretary Kim that boyfriends are a distraction. The conversation escalates as Secretary Kim explains she wants to get married and have kids. Out of the blue, Brandon proposes to her. Things get awkward before he takes back his words, saying he meant Merry Christmas. Secretary Kim also ignores his proposal and responds with Happy New Year.

Brandon asks why she wants to leave him when he is the perfect boss. She says perfection is not for everyone. She adds she is a simple girl, and he begs to differ, saying simple girls wouldn’t have survived nine years in the company. She asks him to pick her replacement, and he chooses three applicants from the files she gave him. Her colleague, Sarah was hoping to be picked and is disappointed when she isn’t. However, they all comment on how Brandon chose three girls who look like her. He also chose three applicants named Kim.

Later, at the gym, Philip asks how the Secretary Kim’s situation is going. He is surprised his friend proposed. Brandon doubts Secretary Kim’s reason for resigning. In the conversation, Philip says he saw Secretary Kim crying while reading a letter two days before she resigned. Brandon starts to suspect Secretary Kim is leaving for another company. He calls someone and asks them to investigate Secretary Kim.

Meanwhile, at the office, Secretary Kim tries to calm down her colleagues. They are sad she is leaving and worry that it is the end of an era. She makes them promise to treat her replacement right and invites them to Karaoke the next night.

Back at the gym, Brandon egotistically breaks up with one of his ‘girls.’ Philip asks him to be more conscious about breaking girls’ hearts. However, Brandon says he doesn’t care; only ugly people chase girls around. Since he is perfect, he thinks it is a waste of time to court girls.

As night crawls by, Secretary Kim visits her family to pick up some papers and joins them for a meal.

The next day, Brandon and Secretary Kim interview the three applicants. Secretary Kim warns the applicants about how demanding the job will be. However, Brandon takes this as a dig against him, and he randomly hires one of the employees. The new secretary is happy and praises Kim for helping her. Secretary Kim is surprised when the new Kim says she is pleased Brandon is a good leader and not just another nepo baby. This starts to make Kim sad.

They head out for a meeting, and Brandon says he wants her to hear everything. It turns out the meeting is with the CEO who tried to recruit Secretary Kim a few weeks back. However, she turned him down. The meeting doesn’t go smoothly, as Brandon calls the CEO out for messing with his employees. Brandon says Mr Yakamoto has no honour for trying to recruit his staff behind his back. He subtly adds that Secretary Kim has no honour for wanting to leave him.

Secretary Kim is understandably pissed, and after the meeting, she confronts Brandon. She explains she turned down the offer and is disappointed that he thought she could be bought with money. She says she has been loyal for nine years, but even after all that time, he has the audacity to question her loyalty. He tries to explain that he has to find out why she is quitting.

Secretary Kim is angry since he had someone investigate her. He says she should have told him about the job offers after she says he could have asked if he knew. Brandon nonchalantly responds that, as her boss, he doesn’t need to do that. She makes sure he gets to his car, but she opts to take a taxi. Brandon is surprised to see she won’t get in his car.

The Episode Review

Brandon is an egotistical character. He is in love with himself, and this can be infuriating. Secretary Kim doesn’t need to tell him about the job offers she gets unless she is leaving to join another company. After nine years, he should have trusted her more. Does he not know what kind of person she is after all these years? He played himself by questioning her loyalty.

Let us see how things unfold with the new secretary and after that fight. Will he apologise, or is he too perfect to admit he is wrong?
