Wake Up, Carlo! – Season 1 Episode 2 Recap & Review

Stinky Hat Parade

In episode 2 of Wake Up, Carlo!, we pick up where we left off, with Berto, Carlo, and Tatiana stuck in traffic. We quickly figure out what’s causing the chaos — it’s none other than King Blaus’ Parade. It gradually becomes clear that he has organized the parade to celebrate himself and to redirect attention to him.

Carlo quickly steals his attention again by being extremely silly. Following that, the cameras shift to Carlo, and King Blaus feels threatened yet again. Meanwhile, Berto is seen driving around passengers in his vehicle. King Blaus tries to turn the crowd against Carlo so that he can send him on a rocket to oblivion. In addition, three judges are present to deliver their verdict.

The first two judges side with King Blaus and against Carlo. Surprisingly, Tatiana, the third judge, votes in favor of Carlo. Nonetheless, King Blaus overlooks her pick and prepares to cast Carlo into oblivion. Carlo, on the other hand, ends up distracting the judges by complimenting them and being quirky. Following that, he runs away with Berto and Tatiana.

Shortly after, we realize that Berto was driving passengers around because Tatiana decided to use that as a means to get Berto to repay her. Carlo quickly falls asleep in the car, and the episode comes to a close.

The Episode Review

The Netflix show’s premise is quite intriguing. Carlo appears to have dozed off in the pre-communist era and woken up in the era when that phase had evolved into tyranny. However, he still appears to have that light in him, the delusion of having no competition and everyone living happily.

The episode concludes with Carlo escaping from King Blaus with the help of Bert and Tatiana. It’ll be interesting to see how things develop moving forward.
