Ghosts
Episode 6 of Virgin River season 6 starts with Mel going on a run and meeting up with Jack, who left early for some rock climbing. They excitedly talk about getting their marriage license and the meeting at the bar with Hope and the other people planning their wedding.
At the meeting, Hope tells them all about the plans they have for the wedding. At this point, Mel and Jack have decided to simply let Hope run the show. They only ask when she will get Sugar a new home, and the other ladies ask her to call Roland and check if he has a spot for Sugar at his ranch. Charmaine shows up late, looking exhausted, and Mel and Jack volunteer to watch the twins the following night.
Elsewhere, Brie and Brady have an awkward run-in, and Kaia quickly picks up the weird vibe between the two. She later asks Brady, and he pretty much admits to sleeping with Brie. He feels it was a mistake because Brie has been dodging his messages since then
At the clinic, Denny finds a programme to help the couple with the neurodegenerative disease. He continues to worry about his disease and how it will affect his family; Vernon assures him they will figure it out, but Denny won’t let the matter go.
At the same time, Cameron drops by for the wedding. He informs Vernon that Dr Hayes has been calling him to ask about his time at the clinic. Muriel though, is surprised to see him. A call interrupts their conversation, and Muriel finds out she has breast cancer. She confides in Cameron, and he offers to help her.
Meanwhile, Jack and Mel are unable to get their marriage license since Jack doesn’t have papers to show the dissolution of his first marriage. Mel suggests they travel to Sacramento and track down Jack’s ex-wife while they also visit his mom.
Also visiting her ex is Hope. She drops by Roland’s ranch, and he accepts to take Sugar on the condition she apologises for leaving him without a goodbye. After Hope begrudgingly apologises, he agrees, but asks for a few days to hire more help around the ranch.
At the restaurant, Brie pushes Mike to celebrate his promotion. They end up getting together with Preacher and Kaia for a few shots. Brady offers to buy one round for them but refuses to join the celebration. The next day, he confronts Lark and breaks up with her. She tries to explain herself and her involvement with Jimmy, but Brady refuses to give her a second chance.
At Jack’s mom’s place, the couple realises that Jack’s mom has been keeping contact with his ex-wife, Mandy. Jack leaves to meet Mandy, and they finally get the closure they deserve. She also gives him the medal of honour and a letter that was sent years ago to their old address.
On the other hand, Jack’s mom explains to Mel how the divorce was hard on Mandy and how their fear over Jack’s safe return after his enlistment bonded the two ladies together.
Back in Virgin River, Lizzie and Denny hit a rough patch as he keeps bringing up the future and how to plan for when he won’t be there. He wants to test the baby once she is born, but Lizzie feels differently.
Later in the evening, Mel and Jack watch over Charmaine’s twins. Mel reads the letter that came with Jack’s medal and d helps him get over his conflicting feelings about it. She commends him for being an exceptional man.
After her talk with his mom about how families don’t end after divorce, Mel decides she is ready to give Mark’s sister the engagement ring she got from Mark. She also asks Jack if she can keep Monroe’s name as her middle name, and he agrees.
At Vernon and Hope’s place, he admits he is worried about the future of his medical legacy. He thinks back to Jordan’s death and still feels guilty about it. Hope asks him not to worry because it was not his fault and he has always done the right thing.
The episode ends with Calvin showing up at Jack’s place and threatening him. He orders Jack to stay away from Charmaine
The Episode Review
Brie’s guilt over sleeping with Brady and cheating on Mike is overwhelming her. She also struggles with her conflicting feelings for Brady. It would be better for her to take time alone and figure out her feelings. Calvin is still a nuisance, but he is taking it too far. He refuses to acknowledge his role in why Charmaine wants him to stay away. It is easier for him to blame Jack and Charmaine because reflecting on himself is too much to bear.
Sadly, Muriel has cancer. This means we will be in for some heartbreaking episodes as he battles this disease. It is also a reminder to check and visit the doctor regularly. Breast screening is one of the most effective ways to detect and treat cancer early. Jack and Mel have finally got all their documents sorted. Jack and Mandy got closure, and now we are all set for the wedding.
