What Happened In Episode 6?
Urusei Yatsura Season 2 episode six was split into three segments. The first segment involves Kotatsu purchasing a magic table from a shop. Afterward, we see him struggling to wrap a blanket around the table. Kotatsu and his table’s actions cause Ataru, Lum, and Cherry to get involved.
After chaos ensues in Ataru’s home, Lum notices Mendo’s Family’s Emblem on the table, so Ataru calls Mendo over to have him examine it. Mendo relays intel about the table’s origins and asks Kotatsu to help the table experience the joys of heat. Kotatsu and his table continue engaging in more back-and-forth shenanigans.
After Kotatsu and his table have an interesting night to themselves, Kotatsu abandons his blanket-covering desires for the table. This set piece closes with Kotatsu transforming the table into a magic sled. The next segment follows Ataru and Lum in a pet store. Lum gets bitten by a cow and returns to her spaceship to watch soap operas and monster movies with Ten.
She and Ten fall asleep and Lum wakes up from a nightmare later. In her restroom, she notices her horns have gotten bigger. Fearful that she’s becoming a cow, Lum asks Ten not to tell Ataru and the others. Unfortunately, Ten gets into a heated argument with Ataru and mentions Lum’s issue during the ordeal.
Before Ataru could pick up on it, Lum arrives and tries departing somewhere with Ataru. Unfortunately, Ataru falls from the building, resulting in Lum taking him to see Sakura. Sakura realizes Lum’s acting strange and learns that she got bit by a cow. Ataru doesn’t think Lum should worry about it, but Sakura reminds Ataru that Lum’s not a human, so she could have bad side effects from the ordeal.
Lum and Ataru walk home together. She asks Ataru several questions concerning cows and tries fleeing. Ataru stops her and notices Lum’s large horns. Lum tells Ataru that she might be turning into a cow. Ataru promises Lum that he’ll continue to look out for her if that happens. We cut to Ten and Lum’s father discussing Lum’s issue.
He tells Ten to tell Lum that she shouldn’t worry about it. Ten arrives at Ataru’s home and shares Lum’s father’s intel with Lum. Additionally, we see Ataru building a barn to hold Lum. The segment closes with Lum smiling because she’s happy Ataru cares for her. The final segment follows Onsen-Mark, as he continues his home-visit mission.
This time he heads to the Mendo Family’s Estate to speak with Mendo and his family. While chatting with Mendo’s father, Onsen feels uncomfortable because of the many gun-carrying bodyguards surrounding them. Mendo arrives and Onsen tries flocking toward him. The bodyguards hurt Onsen. Later, Onsen leaves the estate with several injuries.
The episode closes with the showrunners stating that Onsen will be visiting Shinobu’s family in a future chapter.
