What Happened In Episode 2?

Urusei Yatsura Season 2 Episode 2 was split into three story segments. The first segment involves Ryunosuke visiting Ataru’s home to deliver Ten. Lum thanks Ryunosuke for allowing her to indulge in a meal with her, Ataru, and Ataru’s family. Ryunosuke compliments Ataru’s mother for her dish and returns home to ask her father for intel about her mother. Ryunosuke’s father shares several fabricated tales concerning Ryunosuke’s mother.

Frustrated, Ryunosuke flees home and encounters Ataru, his mother, and Lum. Ryunosuke visits a park with Lum and Ataru to let out some steam. Suddenly, Ryunosuke’s father arrives, and the two seemingly make up. The first segment closes with Ryunosuke realizing her father lied about her mother’s passing.

The second segment involves Ryunosuke telling her friends about a strange experience she had with her father at night. Lum and Ataru convince Ryunosuke to investigate her home to see if her father has a family photo album. After several hilarious missteps ensue, Ryunosuke receives the album, looks inside, and learns the truth about her father’s ploy involving multiple women. This results in Ryunosuke staying at Ataru’s place. The second segment closes with her father appearing on a news broadcast and begging Ryunosuke to return home.

The final segment follows Onsen-Mark and his quest to complete four home visits. He visits Ryunosuke and her father first and suffers a severe beating. He wakes up in Sakura’s office and Sakura warns him not to proceed. Onsen refuses so Sakura kicks him out of her office so he can complete the task. The episode ends with an alien informing the audience that Onsen’s home-visit journey will continue in a future episode.
