We are back with more K-drama news for you! May 2023 is around the corner and with it is a whole new set of dramas to look forward to. This month sees your usual quota of teen romances and workplace dramas but there’s also a spot of time travel and dystopian sci-fi! And the most exciting part? Two massively famous Korean actors are releasing shows in May 2023. Is it Gong Yoo? Is it Kim Woo-bin? Read on to find out!

Here are all the thrilling new K-dramas releasing in May 2023:


Run Into You/A Chance Encounter

Release Date: 1st May

Lead Cast: Kim Dong-wook, Jin Ki-joo

Network: KBS2

Plot: This fantasy drama follows the life of two people, Hae-joon and Yoon-young, who get entangled in time travel and end up stuck in the year 1987.

While Hae-joon is concerned with unravelling a murder case, Yoon-young tries to stop her parents from getting married. But things are not as easy as they seem and they find their paths crossing each other’s.


All That We Loved

Release Date: 5th May

Lead Cast: Sehun, Jo Joon-young, Jang Yeo-bin

Network: TVING

Plot: EXO’s Sehun stars in this teen romance drama. This drama revolves around two boys who are such close friends that one donated a kidney to the other, despite their personalities being miles apart. Their deep-rooted friendship is put to the test when both of them fall for the same girl.

And things get more complicated when they realise that certain memories may have been transferred along with the organ transplant!


Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938

Release Date: 6th May

Lead Cast:  Lee Dong-wook, Kim Bum, Kim So-yeon, Ryu Kyung-soo

Network: tvN, TVING

Plot: Lee Dong-wook is back as the legendary gumiho Lee Yeon! Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 is a sequel to the original series in which Lee Yeon gets dragged back in time. Stuck in the year 1938, he begins to see familiar faces — friendly and unfriendly ones. Will he make it back to the present in one piece?

Network: Disney+

Plot: A 12-episode office drama that brings with it all the politics and escapades of the genre. The show follows the life of Park Yoon-jo, who gets hired in the PR department of a company. She’s all set to dedicate everything to this new job but finds out she was a ‘diversity hire’.

Proving herself is going to be harder than she thought as she works alongside a set of people – including co-worker Ryu Jae-min, a PR expert Ku Yi-jung, and the CEO Seo Dong-hoon.


Black Knight

Release Date: 12th May

Lead Cast: Kim Woo-bin, Esom, Kang Yoo-seok

Network: Netflix

Plot: The iconic Kim Woo-bin is back to grace our screens! This is a dystopian series set in the future where air pollution makes it impossible for people to leave homes without a gas mask. A strict social class system prevails and citizens rely on delivery drivers known as Knights. Kim Woo-bin plays a delivery driver who meets Sa-wol, a refugee who dreams of becoming a Knight like him.


Delightfully Deceitful/Beneficial Fraud

Release Date: 29th May

Lead Cast: Chun Woo-hee, Kim Dong-wook

Network: tvN

Plot: Lee Reum is a genius con artist who lacks any and all empathy. Han Moo-young is a lawyer who is overly empathetic and uses that trait to his advantage. These two wildly different people come together for one single purpose — vengeance. This revenge drama will air every Monday and Tuesday at 20:50 (KST).
