But even a short list can be packed with variety, as this month’s K-dramas include an action drama, a romantic comedy, a fantasy drama, and a tense drama revolving around high school politics. Here are the upcoming K-dramas to watch in June 2024:


The Player 2: Master of Swindlers

Release Date: 3rd June

Lead Cast: Song Seung-heon, Oh Yeon-seo, Lee Si-eon, Tae Won-suk, Jang Gyuri

Network: tvN

Plot: Taking over from the Monday-Tuesday slot of Lovely Runner is this thrilling action drama where a scammer, a hacker, a fighter, and a driver band together. As a group, they steal illegal money that is hoarded by the rich. This series is a sequel to the heist drama The Player, which was released in 2018.


Hierarchy

Release Date: 7th June

Lead Cast: Roh Jeong-eui, Laa Chae-min, Kim Jae-won, Ji Hye-won, Lee Won-jung

Network: Netflix

Plot: Revolving around a group of students at Jooshin High School — a prestigious private school only for the children of the 1% — Hierarchy weaves stories of love, friendship, and revenge. It all starts when a transfer student named Kang Ha joins the school and upsets the control of order set by the students.


My Military Valentine/Bloody Romance

Release Date: 7th June

Lead Cast: Kim Min-seok, Nam Gyu-ri, Song Jae-rim

Network: Viki, JTBC

Plot: After years of strife, the Korean peninsula has found peace between its two factions. During this era, a highly famous South Korean star named Lloyd ends up entering the military. There, he is under the leadership of North Korean special forces soldier Baek Yeong Ok. The unlikely pair must work together through several escapades, including a dangerous terrorist organization that wants to split the country apart again. Could this be the next CLOY? My Sweet Mobster

Release Date: 12th June

Lead Cast:  Um Tae-goo, Han Sun-hwa, Kwon Yool, Kim Hyun-jin, Jae Chan, Yang Hyun-min, Hwang Hyun-jung

Network: JTBC

Plot: This romance K-drama brings together an unlikely pair — Go Eun-ha and Seo Ji-hwan. Eun-ha is a young woman running a YouTube channel for kids and is fondly known as Mini Sister. Ji-hwan, on the other hand, is a former gangster who is starting afresh and even reforming other gangs. Romance blooms when they come across each other. You can find new episodes of this show every Wednesday and Thursday at 20.50 KST.


Miss Night and Day  

Release Date: 15th June

Lead Cast: Lee Jung-eun, Jung Eun-ji and Choi Jin-hyuk

Network:  JTBC

Plot: Lee Mi-jin has been looking for a stable job for years with not much luck. Her world gets turned upside down when, one day, she wakes up as a 50-year-old woman. But she uses this to her advantage. She works as a 50-year-old during the day, taking on the job of an intern at the office of a strict prosecutor named Kye Ji-woong. At night, she returns to her 20-year-old body. This fantasy drama will drop new episodes every Saturday and Sunday from release.


DNA Lover

Release Date: 22nd June

Lead Cast: Choi Siwon, Jung In-sun, Lee Tae-hwan, Jung Yoo-jin

Network: TV Chosun

Plot: There are myriad ways to find love and So Jin, a researcher, believes genes are the answer. She’s determined to find the man who is her genetic match. She then meets an ob/gy named Yeon-woo, who has always found the need to end his relationships. Meanwhile, a firefighter named Kang Hoon is always around to help So Jin. Which way will her genes take her? You can find new episodes of this romantic comedy every Saturday and Sunday.


The Whirlwind

Release Date: 28th June

Lead Cast: Sol Kyung-gu, Kim Hee-ae

Network: Netflix

Plot: This intense political thriller kicks off with an astonishing event — the prime minister, Park Dong-ho, assassinates the president. What follows is a high-stakes feud between him and Jung Soo-jin, the deputy prime minister for economic affairs who is determined to grasp more power. You will find all 12 episodes of this battle of power and wits on Netflix, on the 28th of June.
