In Senior year, 2010, Anthony gets to the finals but he lets the occasion get the better of him. He goes in way too aggressively while facing Matt McDonough and loses. However, he remains determined to come back stronger.

Back home, he finds Rick has returned after a long absence and kicked the kids out the house. Rick is angry at Judy but despite her insistence to leave, Anthony does no such thing. He stands up to his step-dad and shows exactly what he’s all about. He wrestles the guy to the ground and Judy finally stands up for herself and gets the cops involved.

Why do the kids write to Anthony?

Anthony is shocked to find out he’s inspired a whole bunch of kids who see him as a hero. As Judy alludes, they don’t see someone who has lost their leg – they see someone who’s unstoppable and can conquer any challenge put in front of them.

The final is a tense affair but as the crowd cheers for Robles, he manages to come out victorious.

In 2011 he won the Jimmy Valvano ESPY award for perseverance, and a year later he joined ESPN as an NCAA wrestling pundit.
