Two Worlds (Thai Bl) – Episode 8 Recap & Review

Kram’s Illness

Episode 8 of Two Worlds starts with Phupha having dreams about the memories of Phupha from World 1. He invites Kram over for clarification, and Kram tells him about his life in the other world. Phupha understands why Kram insists on saving him and thanks him for crossing over and saving his life.

After Kram returns home, Tai leads him to the cave and asks him to draw a portrait of himself as he did for Phupha. Tai is okay with allowing Kram to draw his nude picture. Elsewhere, Wayu runs into Jao, who is heartbroken and drunk on the road because of Tai’s proposal to Kram. Wayu tells him Tai’s proposal is good because it will help Jao get over Tai. Meanwhile, the drawing session turns into a make-out session that becomes a magical, intimate scene between Tai and Kram.

Everything turns out great for the aftercare between Tai and Kram until Kram starts coughing blood. Tai rushes him to the hospital, and the doctor says that he has a condition called Lumana, which is a type of virus that is destroying his internal organs.

The doctor says that Kram will continue to have severe headaches and illusions, getting weaker day by day, and in the end, he might pass out and not wake up again. The doctor adds that no medicine can cure his condition 100 percent, and the only option is to help maintain his condition. Tai takes Kram to Lady Lu, promising to help them find a way.

Kram is pessimistic about his condition and thinks that he might die. Therefore, he wants to return to World 1 to say goodbye to his father, and Tai offers to accompany him. However, Lady Lu tells them that Tai cannot go to the other world since meeting with Tai from that world would lead to his death.

Lady Lu is confident of the occurrence since she met from the other world herself. Elsewhere, intimate memories of Kram and Phupha from World 1 keep flooding Phupha’s mind and keep him awake at night, and his girlfriend worries about him.

Tai leaves Kram alone at home to take care of some things at Big Slum gang, and Phupha stops by for a visit and brings him his favourite fish porridge. Kram wonders how he knows about his favourite things, and Phupha tells him that the memories about the other Phupha keep flowing in his mind, and he now understands how the other Phupha feels about Phupha.

The memories start affecting Phupha’s relationship with his girlfriend, Run. He asks her for a favour and, the following morning, pays Kram a visit. He takes Kram to the gallery that other Phupha took him to and suggests that Kram stays in this world to give Phupha a chance to take care of him. Phupha says he will set up a medical centre to research Lumana and find a cure for Kram as his friend so he can stay in this world.

Jao is still sulking over Tai, and he gets himself drunk next to the river and falls in. Fortunately, Wayu is close by, and he saves him. Wayu wants to know why Jao is so in love with Tai, and the story takes us back five years earlier when Tai saves him, so Jao says that he owes Tai for saving his life.

Jao says that he fell in love with Tai at first sight, and although he understands that he will have to let him go, he is not ready yet. Wayu bids him goodbye, and outside, he thinks back to the kiss when he was trying to save his life.

Kram tells Tai about Phupha’s proposal, and at first, he thinks that Kram will leave him for Phupha, but Kram has made it clear to Phupha that he wants to be with Tai in this world. Kram surprises Tai with this complete portrait to show his sincerity, saying that their night of passion helped him complete the drawing.

Kram adds that after thinking hard, there is one thing he feels he will regret if he does not do, and the answer to Tai’s proposal for the Ash Exchange Ceremony is on the portrait, which says, “YES, I DO.”

Duengdao helps Kram prepare for the Ash Exchange Ceremony, saying that she was confident that the two would end up together by the looks they exchanged. Tai looks mesmerising, and all their friends, including Phupha, Run, Jao, Wayu, Duengdao, and Kram’s mother, attend the ceremony. Lady Lu officiates the ceremony. At the end of the episode, Tai and Kram dive into the water hand in hand to complete the ceremony, but when they emerge, Kram starts nose bleeding profusely, and he faints.

The Episode Review

The episode introduces a new complexity to the narrative by making Kram chronically ill and leaving us on a cliffhanger at the end. However, it resolves the anxiety about Phupha in this world since he wants to stay close to Kram and help him only as a friend.

Is Kram’s disease because he is in the wrong world? Is there a way for him to be cured? I still want to see how life has been in World 1. Will Tai take Kram back to that world to make sure of him? The series continues to become unpredictable, with several subplots every few episodes, so it is impossible to predict what will happen next.
