Who is Thomas Randolph?
Thomas Randolph, aka The Black Widower, is a Nevada man who was convicted of the murder of his sixth wife, Sharon Krausse.
Sharon wasn’t the only woman Randolph had married. He had five other wives, four of whom are now dead.
Who were Thomas Randolph’s wives?
Randolph’s first wife was Kathryn Thomas who he married in 1975 when she was 18 years of age and he was 20. They divorced in 1983. Thomas later gave testimony in court when Randolph stood trial for murder, describing him as being controlling and manipulative.
Becky Gault was the next woman to marry Randolph. They tied the knot on the same day his divorce to Kathryn Thomas was finalized. Three years later, she was found dead at home with a bullet in her skull. Randolph was initially charged with her murder but was later acquitted. He received a $500,000 pay-out from her life insurance policy.
Randolph’s third wife was Leona Stapleton, who passed away in 1996 from lung cancer. The couple had separated a year earlier.
His fourth wife was Gayna Allmon who he almost killed while allegedly cleaning his gun. She survived her marriage to Randolph but his fifth wife, Francis Thomas, passed away in 2004 following botched heart surgery. Randolph wasn’t directly responsible for her death but it’s believed that he previously tried to hire a hitman to kill her.
Randolph’s sixth wife was Sharon Krausse, who died in 2008 during what appeared to be a home invasion. However, this attack on their home was planned by Randolph himself.
What did Thomas Randolph do?
In 2008, a masked man entered Randolph’s home and shot and killed Sharon Krausse. The man’s name was Michael Miller, who Randolph shot dead following the murder of his wife.
Randolph wasn’t avenging the death of his wife. During the subsequent police investigation, it was discovered that Randolph had arranged for Miller to murder Sharon so he could then claim the money from her insurance policy.
What happened to Thomas Randolph?
It wasn’t until 2017 that Randolph was convicted of the crime, which is when he was given the death penalty. However, the Nevada Supreme Court overturned the guilty verdict because the trial jury heard evidence pertaining to the death of Randolph’s second wife, which should never have been used.
On August 11, 2023, a retrial took place, during which Randolph was given 60 years in prison for the murder of Sharon Krausse and Michael Miller.
