Where is Samuel Byrd now?

See No Evil is an American true-crime docuseries that shows how surveillance cameras can play a part in cracking horrific murder cases.

Season 13 of the show consists of 10 episodes, with each episode being released weekly on Investigation Discovery.

Episode 3 “The Missing Camera” shines a chilling spotlight on Samuel Byrd who, in December 2019, killed his girlfriend, Amanda Gordon.

The synopsis of the episode reads:

“When 30-year-old, mother-of-two, Mandi Gordon disappears, investigators turn to CCTV for clues to help them find her; they uncover a complex web of lies and a betrayal that lead to a botched cover-up, and a grisly discovery on a remote ranch in Texas.”

In this article, we take a brief look at this gruesome true crime case and ask the question: Where is Samuel Byrd now?

What did Samuel Byrd do?

In December 2019, Cedar Park resident Samuel Byrd, 30, was arrested by police who suspected his involvement in the disappearance of his girlfriend, Amanda Gordon, 30, who had disappeared a few days earlier.

Samuel and Amanda had been dating for around 8 or 9 years and they had two children together.

In an article at Kxan.com, it’s reported that Byrd was allegedly “physically, verbally and emotionally abusive throughout the relationship.” This was according to Amanda’s mother.

When officers went to perform a welfare check on Amanda, they were met by Samuel who refused to let them enter the house. They forced their way into the property and spoke to another man, identified as Samuel’s brother, who told them Samuel and Amanda had been using drugs. After Samuel had woken up after passing out, he had apparently discovered Amanda lying on the floor, dead.

When police entered the house, Amanda’s body wasn’t present, so they carried out a search. During their investigation, they discovered a large presence of blood in the shed as well as blood traces in the house’s bedroom and bathroom.

The police also met Samuel’s other girlfriend who had hidden a bag under his instruction. She led police to the bag which contained various items, including a .45 calibre Springfield 1911 handgun, a spent .45 calibre shell casing, Amanda’s phone and her glasses.

A short while later, the police found human remains at a burn pit on the property of Samuel’s business partner in Dale, Texas. Within the remains were a necklace and two rings that belonged to Amanda.

It turns out that Amanda had died from a gunshot wound, with the perpetrator being Samuel. After killing her, he disposed of her body.

Samuel pleaded guilty to murder in November 2022 and was sentenced to 45 years in prison.

Where is Samuel Byrd now?

Samuel Byrd is still serving time for the murder of Amanda Gordon. If he is forced to complete the full prison sentence, he won’t be released from prison until 2067.
