Where are Linda and Charlotte Mulhall now? | The killer women featured in ‘The Murderous Scissor Sisters’

Where are Linda and Charlotte Mulhall now?

The Murderous Scissor Sisters, a new docuseries streaming on Prime Video, highlights the brutal killing of a man named Farah Swaleh Noor, whose dismembered body was found floating down the Royal Canal in Dublin in March 2005.

The people behind his murder are Linda and Charlotte Mulhall, who killed the Kenyan boyfriend of their mother Kathleen when he threatened to kill her.

In this article, we briefly discuss the crime that led to the arrest of Linda and Charlotte and ask the question: Where are the Mulhall Sisters now?

Who are the Mulhall Sisters?

Linda and Charlotte Mulhall grew up with their mother Kathleen and her abusive husband John in a working-class area of Tallaght in South Dublin.

During their childhood, they were witnesses to many instances of domestic abuse, which understandably scarred them and made them fear for their lives and the life of their mother.

At the time the killing of Farah Swaleh Noor took place, Linda was 30 years of age. She was unemployed and raising four children alone. She had a history of drug and alcohol abuse.

Charlotte was 23 years old at the time of the murder. Like Linda, she also had problems with drugs and alcohol. To make ends meet, she engaged in prostitution, as did her mother.

What did Linda and Charlotte Mulhall do?

After years of witnessing (and experiencing abuse), Linda and Charlotte could finally take it no more when Farah Swaleh Noor moved into their mother’s home after starting a relationship with her.

During his time in the house, Farah regularly beat Kathleen, at one point smashing her ribs.

On March 20, 2005, Kathleen and Farah celebrated St Patrick’s weekend in town by drinking heavily. Linda and Charlotte met them in town and got into as bad a state as their mother when they also got drunk. Charlotte and Kathleen also took ecstasy tablets.

When they returned to Kathleen’s flat, Farah also took ecstasy. He then tried to grope Linda while making lewd comments towards her. Kathleen intervened and got into a huge row with her boyfriend.

At one point, Farah threatened to slit Kathleen’s throat. When she asked her daughters for help, Charlotte used a Stanley knife to cut Farah’s throat. She and Linda attacked him further, stabbing him a total of 27 times until they were sure he was dead.

The sisters then dismembered Farah’s body using the Stanley knife, a kitchen knife, and a hammer which they used to smash through his bones. The dismemberment took several hours to complete.

Following this brutal killing, the 3 women cleaned up the flat to remove evidence of the copious amounts of blood. They also put Farah’s body parts into black bags and a sports bag.

Later that night, they threw the body parts into the Royal Canal, taking around 6 trips to dispose of what remained of Farah. The only piece of his body that they didn’t throw into the water was Farah’s head. As they didn’t want his identity revealed, they travelled by bus the next day to Sean Walsh Memorial Park and buried his head near a bench.

A while later, Linda, who was worried that the head might be found, went back to the park. Heavy rainfall had washed away some of the dirt above the dismembered head, making it visible. She put the head in a bag and then took it to a field where she then crushed it with a hammer and set it alight before burying it again.

What happened to Linda and Charlotte Mulhall?

During their investigation into the crime, the police spoke to the brothers of Linda and Charlotte, John and James Mulhall, who were both in prison for motoring offences. The brothers had been informed of the murder by their family but instead of keeping quiet about it, they informed the police, to secure themselves a move to a better prison.

Linda confessed to the murder in August 2005. After her confession, her mother fled the country and wasn’t found by police until 2008.

Both Linda and Charlotte were charged with murder. Their trial took place in October 2006, during which Charlotte was given a mandatory life sentence and Linda was given a 15-year sentence for manslaughter. They were both sent to Dublin’s Mountjoy Women’s Prison.

Following their conviction, their father killed himself in Phoenix Park in Dublin. He had previously helped his daughters cover up their crime by removing blood-stained materials from their home.

After Kathleen was found living in England, she was charged with aiding and abetting her daughters in the killing. She was sentenced to three years in prison.

Where are Linda and Charlotte Mulhall now?

Linda Mulhall was released from prison in 2018, having served 12 years of her 15-year sentence. It’s believed she is currently living in England and keeping a low profile so as to start a new life and put her criminal past behind her.

Charlotte Mulhall is in Limerick Prison where she has been described as a “model prisoner.” It’s uncertain if she will be granted parole.
