Where is Kimberly Kessler now?

See No Evil is an American true-crime docuseries that shows how surveillance cameras can play a part in cracking horrific murder cases.

Season 13 of the show consists of 10 episodes, with each episode being released weekly on Investigation Discovery.

Episode 1 “She’s Fake” shines a chilling spotlight on Kimberly Kessler who was found guilty of the 2018 murder of Joleen Cummings.

The synopsis of the episode reads:

“In Fernandina Beach, Fla., cosmetologist Joleen Cummings goes missing after her last appointment at Tangles Salon; CCTV footage shows her car in an isolated parking lot in the middle of the night; a closer look reveals an unlikely suspect.”

In this article, we take a brief look at this gruesome true crime case and ask the question: Where is Kimberly Kessler now?

Who is Kimberly Kessler?

Kimberly Kessler is the killer of mother-of-three Joleen Cummings who was reported missing on May 14, 2018.

Kessler, who had been born in Pennsylvania in 1968, allegedly ran away from home after high school and then assumed various identities, including the name of Jennifer Sybert, which was the moniker she was using when she killed Joleen.

What did Kimberly Kessler do?

On May 14, 2018, Joleen Cumming’s mother contacted the Fernandina Beach Police Department to report her daughter missing.

Joleen was last seen leaving the hair salon where she worked on May 12. When she failed to pick up her children the next day from the kids’ father, it was clear that something may have happened to her.

Also working at the hair salon was Kimberly Kessler, who was using the name Jennifer Sybert. It’s alleged that Joleen suspected Kimberly wasn’t who she said she was and that she threatened to expose her during a confrontation. It’s believed this argument is what led to her death.

On the night of Joleen’s disappearance, surveillance footage showed Kessler at Walmart, where she bought an electric carving knife, a bottle of ammonia, cleaning gloves, and 30-gallon trash bags.

It’s assumed that the knife was used to cut up Joleen’s body, which Kessler then disposed of in a dumpster. The body parts were never retrieved but a forensics team did find blood residue belonging to Jennifer in the salon.

What happened to Kimberly Kessler?

Kessler was arrested for the murder of Joleen Cummings and charged with the crime. In the lead up to her murder trial, she went on a hunger strike in jail and dropped down to a weight of 89 pounds in an attempt to show she was incompetent for trial.

The judge didn’t fall for Kessler’s ploy. The killer stood trial in December 2021 and was found guilty of first-degree murder. She was then sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Where is Kimberly Kessler now?

Kimberly Kessler is now serving life imprisonment at Florida State Prison. As such, her whereabouts are far from being a mystery.

But as for where Joleen Cumming’s body and remains are, nobody knows for sure.
