Where is Asher Maslin now?

The Channel 5 series Stalked: Murder in Slow Motion tells the tragic stories of young women who were murdered by their stalkers.

One episode is centered around Hollie Gazzard who was stalked and murdered by her ex-boyfriend Asher Maslin.

Who is Asher Maslin?

Asher Maslin is the man responsible for the murder of Hollie Gazzard.

The then 22-year-old security guard from Gloucester met Hollie in a bar in 2013. They began dating shortly after but their relationship ended in 2014 when Hollie broke up with him due to his possessive and violent behaviour.

Who was Hollie Gazzard?

Hollie Gazzard was a 20-year-old hairdresser from Gloucester. She ended her relationship with Asher just four days before she was killed.

After breaking up with him, he became angry and accused her of having a “cold heart.” He then followed her to her car and stole her bank card. The enraged killer then sent abusive texts to Hollie and her family.

One text read:

“I don’t want to get f***ing violent as I’ll take it too far.”

Another text read:

“Give me a ring now or dis bat is gonna hit your dad’s head.”

Speaking about Asher’s behaviour, Hollie’s dad said:

“He was abusive to Hollie. He humiliated her in front of everyone else. He spoke to her like a piece of dirt. He was demanding, he was clicking his fingers and saying things about her. The way he treated her was like a child. He had no respect.” (source)

Hollie went to the police to report Asher but they were unable to locate him.

On the day of Hollie’s death, he sent a text message that read:

“I warned you all.”

What did Asher Maslin do?

On February 18, 2014, Asher sold his DVD player to raise funds to purchase a 12-inch kitchen knife.

At around 6.30 pm, he walked into the salon where Hollie worked and slashed his ex to death in front of horrified customers.

Salon boss Sian Pryszlak said:

“I’d agreed with Hollie earlier in the day that if he turned up I wouldn’t make a scene, I’d just call the police. Just after 6.30 pm, on February 18, Maslin walked into the bus salon.

I was doing a gentleman’s hair. I said hello and he said hello and I walked to the back of the salon and held my phone up to Hollie to show that I was going to phone the police and we both nodded to one another.

I remember feeling quite nervous and anxious about it. I heard quite a lot of commotion and then there were people running towards me and one client said. ‘There’s a knife.”

Sadly, Sian wasn’t able to stop the attack and neither were the police.

Hollie was rushed to hospital after the brutal stabbing but she sadly died before arrival.
