Where is Andrew Lindo now? | The ‘Body Bag Killer’ featured on The Truth About My Murder

Where is Andrew Lindo now?

The Truth About My Murder is a crime documentary series featuring forensic pathologist and author Dr Richard Shepherd who uncovers the truth behind horrific crimes as told through the victims’ bodies.

One murder victim featured on the programme is a woman named Marie Stewart. She was killed by her partner, Andrew Lindo, in 2010.

In this article, we take a look at this chilling true crime case and ask the question: Where is Andrew Lindo now?

What did Andrew Lindo do?

Born in 1972 and originally from Stockton-On-Tees, Andrew Lindo moved to West Yorkshire to study music at Huddersfield University. It was here where he met Marie Stewart who he convinced to leave her husband so she could become his girlfriend.

He set up a home with Marie in Holmfirth. They had two young children together and appeared to have the perfect family life. However, he was having affairs with other women, including a dance teacher named Amy Doram who believed she was in an exclusive relationship with him. She described him as “a nice person” and “a charmer” but also referred to him as “a liar and a cheat from my experience.”(source)

When seeing other women, Lindo pretended to be a single father. But he wasn’t single… until he killed Marie!

On December 18, 2010, Lindo killed his fiance while his young children were in the house. In court, he denied murder but admitted manslaughter and said that he had lost his temper in a row. But the truth was far different.

Lindo strangled Marie, hit her with a child’s chair, and then tried to choke her with a belt. He then killed her by stabbing her 12 times with a kitchen knife.(source)

Marie was 30 years old at the time of her death.

After killing Marie, Lindo put her body in a bag and concealed it in the garage. He then put his children in the car and spent the night with his latest lover.

For the next seven weeks, he convinced Marie’s family and friends that she was still alive by posting messages through her Facebook profile and using her phone to tell them she had moved abroad. But when they became suspicious, the police were called, at which point the body was found by the investigating officers.

At Lindo’s sentencing, the judge, Mr Justice Andrew Smith, said Lindo had shown an “extraordinary and chilling lack of remorse.” (source)

It took jurors less than an hour to decide that Lindo was guilty of murder.
