Lion and Gorila Rooms

Following a brief cutscene, in which Lara learns about the Tomb of Tihocan, located beneath the ruins of a monastery known as St. Francis’ Folly, Lara enters this holy place. Sadly, there are no priests in attendance when Lara enters.  As the level begins, there are two lions inside who have clearly never heard of the commandment “Thou shalt not kill” as they are intent on ripping poor Lara to shreds.

There are ledges and blocks to climb in this room so you can take the lions out at a safe distance. Once you have defeated them, run to the moveable block at the right of the room and push it onto the omega sign. This will cause a door to open at the end of the room.

Don’t go inside the room as you might accidentally step onto the pressure pad which will close the door. This would be bad news for you as there are two quick-moving gorillas in the room that are tricky to kill within the confined space. Instead, go to the room’s entrance and shoot the gorillas from there. If they get too close to you, step back into the main room and shoot at them from afar.

Once the gorillas are dead, go into the room they were jumping around in. As mentioned, the door will close behind you if you step on the pressure pad.

Pull the switch in front of you (which part opens the door on the raised platform in the main room) and then pull the switch on the right-hand stairs if the gorilla room door is closed.

Another gorilla will appear before you exit this room so take it out before it turns you into a human banana.

After leaving the room, there is more trouble ahead as one of Natla’s mercenaries, Pierre DuPont, will start firing at you. It’s not possible to kill him at this stage as he becomes a permanent troublemaker throughout the game. But when you have dealt him enough damage, he will literally disappear.

When Pierre has gone, push the moveable block to the furthest omega sign to open the door on the raised platform. Then pull the block backwards as far as it will go. Stand on the block and do a standing jump to the pillar to the right of you. Turn to your right and do a standing jump to the next pillar. From here, you need to do a diagonal jump over to the pillar on your right (see image). There is a medipack on here so pick it up.

From this pillar, you can get to the first secret. Turn to your left and jump diagonally onto the lower pillar. Then jump to the platform and enter the doorway. You need to get to a ledge above you but there are a series of ramps that you need to navigate to get up there.

Backflip off the left ramp and when your feet touch the ramp behind you, jump sideways and grab the ledge. Pull yourself up,  backflip off the next ramp, and jump forward off the ramp you land on. Grab the ledge in front of you and then climb onto the platform to find shotgun shells and a large medipack.

Drop back down and head out to the ledge. Jump on the pillar to the right then return to the pillar where you found the first medipack.  Once here, jump across to the ledge on the wall. Jump across the gaps on the ledge until you reach the door that you opened earlier.

After going through the doorway you will slide down a long ramp. To get to the second secret, you need to jump off the smaller ramp (below the first ramp) to get to a hidden room. In here are some shotgun shells and a small medipack.

Don’t exit the way you came. Instead, drop down the hole in the alcove into a room with a switch. Before pulling the switch, target the crocodile in the water and kill it. Then jump into the water and swim halfway down the tunnel until you see an opening above you. Pull yourself up here to find the third secret – more shotgun shells. Return to the water and head back to the switch. Once pulled, the tunnel will be drained of water.

Head into the tunnel and run down to the end. Then turn to your right and take the stairs.

Room With Large Columns

You will come to a 5-story room with several columns and platforms. On some of the columns are switches that need to be pulled to open the doors around the exterior of the area.

This room might appear to be complicated but once you know where the switches and doors are, your life will be made easier. Here’s where you can find them.

Thor Switch – On the 4th level

Thor Door – 2nd level

Damocles Switch – On the 3rd level

Damocles Door – 1st level (above the ground level)

Neptune Switch – 1st level

Neptune Door – 5th (top) level

Atlas Switch – Ground level

Atlas Door – 3rd level

Getting to the switches and doors isn’t easy because of the many jumps you need to perform. There are also bats flying around so shoot these from a distance before they cause you to fall off a ledge.

Pierre will also make another appearance on the ground floor so watch out for him. You can take him out early if you want to (he’ll disappear after he has taken some damage) or you can wait until you have collected the keys that are needed to exit the level. Thankfully, there are platforms and medipacks on some of the platforms so grab these to keep yourself stocked up.

You can choose which door to enter first so you don’t necessarily have to follow the order below.

HINT: Near the Thor Switch is a pressure pad that opens a door on the ground level. The door is on a timer so you need to drop down to ground level in just under 20 seconds (or thereabouts) to enter through the door to find the fourth secret – a large medipack and some magnum clips.

Damocles Room

Before you step through the doorway, grab onto the ledge above you to find a large medipack.

When you head inside the room, you will notice swords hanging from the roof. You don’t have to worry about these yet so pass through the columns and step on the pressure pad that opens a door. Go into this new room and take the Damocles key. There’s also a small medipack and some shotgun shells in here so don’t forget to collect these.

Now it’s time to go back to the room with the large columns. As you walk through the room, the swords will fall from the ceiling. You’ll see the shadows of the swords as they fall, so tread as carefully as you can, sticking close to the pillars and avoiding the shadowed areas to avoid getting impaled.

Thor Room

Upon entry, you will walk down some steps. On the ceiling in front of you is a ball that shoots out bolts of lightning. To avoid getting fried, keep off the grey slabs that the lightning is directed at.

Stick to the left wall, jump over the grey slab and enter into a room with a pressure pad on the floor and Thor’s Hammer above it. Stand on the pad until you hear a cracking sound and then quickly move before the hammer lands on your head.

A moveable block has also dropped down to the floor. Push this to the ledge and then jump up to find a second moveable block. You need to pull (and then push) this block to get up onto the platform above you. On this platform is a small medipack.

From the platform, do a running jump to get over the gap to the next platform. Head into a small room to grab the Thor key and then make your way back to the bottom of the room. On your way back to the entrance, stick to the wall again and jump over the grey slab before heading for the exit.

Atlas Room

You’ll be attacked by a gorilla in this room so quickly kill it before it kills you. A shotgun is a good choice here if you have enough shells.

Once the gorilla is dead, step onto the pressure plate to open the gate. Enter the passageway beyond and make your way up the ramp. After you have taken a few steps, a boulder will roll towards you so jump up onto the ledge to your left to avoid a crushing end. From here, climb onto another ledge to find the Atlas key. Before you leave the room, head to the boulder at the bottom of the ramp and take the small medipack.

Neptune Room

There’s a pool in the middle of this room so dive in and follow the passage down until you come to a gate with the Neptune key on the other side. The lever to open the gate is in the alcove to the left, so pull it, grab the key and then return the way you came.

Ground Level

After finding all the keys, you need to return to ground level. Pierre will be hanging around here (unless you shot at him a few times earlier) and there will be a couple of lions too. Shoot Pierre if you need to and then kill the lions when he disappears. All you need to do now is put the keys in the locks on the walls to unlock the exit to the level.
