Lake Area
After the events of the last level, you begin this section of the game with no weapons. Thankfully, you don’t have to deal with a lot of conflict during the first part of the level, so don’t worry about your empty pockets.
Swim through the watery tunnel and get out of the water at the waterfall to your right. Run through the passageway and pull the switch at the end. This opens a wooden gate elsewhere in the mines.
Head back the way you came, go into the water and climb out onto the surface with the three wooden crates.
Run down the passage to your right and into a room with a moveable block behind a rock. Pull the block from its left side to give you access to a tunnel. At the end of the tunnel is the gate you opened earlier and a switch. Pull the switch to open a door.
Go back to the lake and head to the passage behind the waterfall. Run down the passageway and lift yourself up into the upper area. Keep moving until you’re on the ledge pictured above. Jump across to the ledge with the barricade and head down the passage to your left.
Cave Areas
After following through the passage, you’ll enter a room with a building dangling above you. You’ll also see another building that requires three fuses for the dangling room to be lowered.
Head into the next room and locate the moveable block next to the barricaded building. Move the block towards the building and use it to jump onto the roof.
Drop down through the collapsible part of the roof and follow the passage. In a small alcove to your right is a switch so pull this to move the boat on the lake.
Head back along the passage until you can drop back down into the section of the cave with the barricaded building.
Fuse #1
Follow the rail tracks and go through the gateway that opens up. When you near the first barricade, a boulder will roll past you. Quickly move to the end of the passageway and to the right before another boulder blocks off this area. If you don’t get here on time, leave the room and the boulder will reset itself.
The passageway at the end contains the first fuse. Keep moving forward but be mindful of the two boulders that will roll towards you as you head up the passage.
Drop down the hole at the end of the passage to find yourself in the room with the barricaded track. Climb up the ledge ahead of you and follow the passage until you get to another hole in the floor. Drop down the hole and into the room with the barricaded building.
From here, run through the room with the dangling building and head to the lake area.
Fuse #2
When back at the lake, you can use the boat to jump to the area with a few wooden crates.
Behind the crates are boxes with the word ‘NATLA’ written on them. Pick up the magnum ammo and look for the box that is darker than the rest. This is moveable so pull it towards you and then push it to where the magnum ammo was.
You will then spot another box that can be moved. Pull it twice and then get to the right of the box to pull it again.
Behind the box was a switch that can now be pulled to move the minecart that we’ll be heading toward next.
Go back to the lake and swim to the section with the other wooden crates. Climb out of the water and follow the passage to the minecart room.
As the minecart has now been moved out of the way, you can get to the block that was behind it. Push the block twice and then run down the passage beyond.
You will come to a room with the second fuse. Collect the fuse but don’t venture further into the room as you’ll attract the attention of Cowboy who has every intention of killing you. You can come back to him later when you have some guns.
Fuse #3
Run back to the moveable block and climb up onto it. From here, you can make your way to the ledge above to find a switch and some uzi ammo. Pull the switch to open a gate next to a room with a conveyor belt.
From here, return to the lake, pass under the waterfall, and head down the passage that leads to the rooms with the abandoned buildings.
To the left of the room with the barricaded building is a passage. This leads you to the conveyor belt.
Beyond the conveyor belt to your left is a switch so pull this to activate the machinery. The conveyor belt will move and push the third fuse onto the floor. Pick up the fuse and head back to the room with the dangling building.
Go inside the building with the fuse slots and insert the fuses. After doing this, the dangling building will drop. This is good news for you as you’ll find your pistols in here.
Climb onto this building and jump over into the gap ahead of you (where Lara is facing in the image above).
To your right is a ledge so jump up and through the passage with an automatic gate. At the end of the passage is a ledge to your right. Jump diagonally onto the ledge and grab the first secret – a large medipack and uzi ammo.
Pull the switch and return to the passage beyond the dropped building. Follow the passage until you get back to the lake. Swim to the area with the three wooden crates and from here, make your way to the minecart room and head down the tunnel leading to Cowboy.
Lava River
Cowboy isn’t too difficult to kill but as there are lava pits in this area, you need to move carefully. When you have killed Cowboy, he will drop your magnums, so pick these up before you exit the area.
Drop down onto the small ledge that is below Lara in the image above. There is another ledge below this one so drop down and hang onto it. On this ledge is a small medipack.
Pick up the health item and then use the crevice to shimmy across to your right. When you have gone as far as you can, drop down onto the ground below. There’s another crevice to the right of you so shimmy along this until it’s safe to land.
On the far wall is another crevice! Jump across and hang on to it. Shimmy along to your right and drop down when it’s safe to do so. There’s a passage to the right of you, so follow this until you come to an exit with the lava river (see image above).
Do a standing jump onto the platform to the right of Lara in the picture. Ahead of you are two pillars. Do a running jump onto the right pillar and then do another running jump onto the platform in front of you.
From this platform, turn right and do a running jump into the passage. Push the moveable crate and then pull it away from the wall to reveal a hole in the roof.
Climb up and jump into the area to the left to pick up the second secret – uzi ammo and large medipack. Jump back over the hole, follow the passage and drop down through another hole onto some tracks.
On the tracks, you’ll find your shotgun, some more uzi ammo and another large medipack.
Squeeze past the boulder at the end of the tracks – it’s easier to do this with a backflip – and return to the lava river.
Jump on the central pillar, do a running jump onto the pillar on the right, and then do another running jump to the pillar in front of you. Finally, do a running jump onto the front left pillar and then jump to the floor.
More Cave Areas
Enter the passageway, slide down the slope and jump over the lava. You will then come to a room with boxes marked TNT.
There is a box to the right of Lara in the image. Behind this is a moveable box.
Pull the box through the opening (which is situated to the left of Lara in the image). Pull and push the box until you reach a spot where you can jump to a passage on the left.
Follow the passage and climb the rocks at the end. You’ll come to a lava pit. Jump to the right of the pit and don’t jump again until the boulder has rolled past you.
When the boulder has gone, jump into the opening in front of you.
Follow the passage, turn left into another opening, and head over to the switch. Pulling the switch detonates the explosives.
Return the way you came, over the lava pit, and back into the area you moved the box into earlier. Head through the rocks to your left and keep moving until you reach the area pictured above.
In here is the Skateboard Kid. He will attack you with your uzis so keep moving and shoot at him until he’s dead. Reclaim your uzis and drop down into the pool on the left of the room. Down here you will find the third secret – uzi ammo and a small and large medipack.
Make your back to the room where you battled the skateboarder and look for the uzi clips to the left of the ramp.
Run through the area pictured above and to the doorway beyond. Follow the passage and move out of the way of the boulders that will roll toward you.
At the end of the passage watch out for another boulder and then make your way to the left. Climb up into a new room and from the pillar on your left, jump up onto a pillar to your right. From here, you can jump up and hang onto the ledge above you.
From the ledge, jump onto the next pillar and then jump onto the last pillar in the room. Climb through the hole above you and into a sandy-coloured room. Push the moveable block until you have access to the next area.
Sandy-Coloured Rooms and Pyramid Room
This next area is a little confusing so we will number the levels in this section 1 and 2. Level 1 is where you begin this section.
From Level 1, turn to your right and climb up to Level 2. In here, pull the moveable block from the wall and then push it to your right.
You have opened the way to a golden door but ignore it for now and drop down a hole into a new part of Level 1. Pull the moveable block once and then climb up to Level 2. From here, drop back down to the first section of Level 1.
Push the moveable block to reveal a switch to open the gold door on Level 2. Now climb up to Level 2 and go through the newly-opened door.
Follow the passage and move the block to reveal another gold door. The door will close but in front of it is a switch to pull .
Pull the switch to open a gold door on Level 1. Head back down the passage, up the steps and return to Level 1 to pass through the open door.
Get ready for a fight as there is a Bald Guy in here with a shotgun. Keep moving to avoid damage and shoot at him when you can.
When he’s dead, go up to the pyramid and climb onto the left gold block pictured above. From here, do standing jumps to the flat section on your left, the flat section on your right, and then more standing jumps to the other flat areas to your left.
Jump from the top flat section to the sliding section of the pyramid to your left. You’ll come to another flat section and an opening to your right. In here is a switch. Pull it to open the buildings in the Pyramid Room. Collect the items you find in these buildings, including the Pyramid Key.
Use the Pyramid Key to open the pyramid door and then exit the level.
