This Love Doesn’t Have Long Beans (Thai BL) – Episode 8 Recap, Review & Finale Explained

 A Fresh Start 

Episode 8 of This Love Doesn’t Have Long Beans picks up where we left off, with Chef Oab about to decide who wins the competition.

Kluea gets immediately canned after using cowpeas in his food. He did this to challenge Oab and show he doesn’t trust Oab will be fair. He demands to know why Oab has still not kicked Plawan out even after watching the video.

Oab explains that he intended to be fair and kicks Kluea out because he broke one of the important rules of the restaurant. The restaurant is famous for not cooking cowpeas. 

What happens after Plawan wins the restaurant? 

Plawan feels conflicted about ruining Kluea’s chance. He tries to talk to Kluea, but the latter insists he is done trying to prove himself to Oab. He packs his things and leaves.  Out of guilt and his love for Oab, Plawan texts Methas and informs him that he wants to cancel their deal. 

Plawan talks to Oab and tries to tell him that he feels unworthy of inheriting the restaurant. As Oab encourages him, you can see on his face that he is also conflicted. Oab embraces Plawan, but there is a sense of melancholy in his eyes.

The two end up making passionate love until late in the night. After the steamy rendezvous, Oab reveals he knew all along that Plawan is a Methas’ spy. He knew it from the first night they slept together, but hoped Plawan would choose him instead. 

An intense confrontation arises, and Oab gives Plawan the deed to the restaurant before storming out. He tells Plawan he is done and tired of the Methas drama. Oab goes drinking in the dead, rainy night while Plawan curls himself on the floor and cries him a river.

What does Plawan do with the deed?

He takes it to Methas. Once again, JJ tries to convince Methas to choose the right thing. Methas is conflicted because he loves JJ but he also wants to build the condo he has always dreamed about.

Earlier, when JJ quit his job at the clinic, he suggested that Methas try incorporating the local business into his plan instead of destroying the locals’ livelihood. 

After much contemplation, Methas decides to adjust his building plans. He allows a heartbroken Plawan to rent the restaurant. Plawan recruits JJ, Nueng and Kluea to help him reopen the restaurant. ‘He also tries to reach out to Nubnueng to find out if Oab is okay.

What happens to Oab?

He takes time to rethink his options after being hurt so deeply by Plawan. He stays at Nubnueng’s place for a while and ignores Plawan’s calls. On the other hand, Plawan mourns their relationship, regretting his decision.

He hopes that reopening the restaurant will make Oab return. However, Oab is thinking about travelling to France to study. Thankfully, Methas visits him and explains his new deal with Plawan. He adds that Plawan is working hard to keep the restaurant because he is waiting for Oab.

After his talk with Methas and following Plawan’s successful restaurant reopening, Oab opens his own restaurant next door. Of course, this gives Plawan’s restaurant some tough competition. 

 After learning Oab has opened a restaurant next door, Plawan is too shocked and forgets to apologise when he reunites with Oab for the first time. The second time, JJ and Methas encourage Plawan to order food from Oab’s restaurant and insist he delivers it himself.

Unfortunately, Oab refuses to deliver the food, forcing Plawan to visit the restaurant himself. This time, Plawan starts by sincerely apologising, and Oab accepts the apology. He admits that he has just been waiting for Plawan to apologise. They make up and have sex in the new restaurant.

How does This Love Doesn’t Have Long Beans end?

After their passionate reunion, Oab and Plawan work together in the old restaurant. Plawan is confident that he wants to be a chef and already quit his modelling career. He moves in with Oab and their relationship continues to grow stronger. 

After learning that JJ and Methas are happily engaged, Plawan proposes to Oab. The episode ends with them sharing a sweet kiss to celebrate their engagement

The Episode Review

Why do good things have to come to an end? We should have had at least ten episodes to get more of that JJ and Methas sweetness. This Love Doesn’t Have Long Beans has been one of the best Thai BLs we have had this year.

Everything from the cast’s chemistry, to the writing and execution of the storyline was almost perfect. The only thing we can complain about is we needed more of JJ’s and Methas’ love story. They had one of the best friends-to-enemies arcs we have ever seen.
