The Woman in the Wall Season 1 Episode 6
Ruth Wilson headlines this Paramount project, which is making its international debut. The Woman in the Wall focuses on the story of Lorna Brady, a victim of the Magdalene Laundries in Ireland. These “Mother and Baby Homes” were run illegally in the country, all under the nose of the State. The show is set in the small village town of Kilkinure and focuses on the homicide of Father Percy Sheehan, a person associated with these laundries.
Lorna and a few other women were victims of the Kilkinure convent, with which Percy is closely associated. Things get complicated when Lorna finds the body of Aoife Cassidy in her house, a nun who didn’t complete her final vows at the convent. But she has no idea how Aoife’s body got there, owing to Lorna’s sleepwalking habit.

What happened in Episode 5?
Episode 5 of The Woman in the Wall focuses on Akande and Lorna as they drive out to meet Breda, who might be Clemence’s daughter. Breda reveals that her adoptive parents paid money for her, indicating to the duo that Percy and the others were involved in a child trafficking ring. They falsified many death certificates to ensure that their illicit dealings had a believable cover-up. James Coyle informs Niamh and Anna that the judge has ruled in their favour.
All the women are joyous at this victory and hold a celebratory evening at the Clew Bar. However, Lorna arrives just in time to sound a warning. By signing the letter, the women will not be able to bring any more charges against the State. It is an attempt to protect their own face by taking away the rights of the women and hiding other illicit activities.
None of them listen to her, though. Massey takes a new interest in the case. He goes through the case files again to find that Percy called a hotel in Dublin the evening he died. Lorna and Akande find the card of someone called Ignacious McCullen, who acted as the broker for Akande’s adoptive parents back then.
On digging more, Akande and Skelly come to the conclusion that James Coyle is McCullen, having changed his name in the 80s. Amy has a public meltdown when Thomas, the biological father of her child, ridicules the modesty of the women. She emphasizes that their suffering was so bad, that she wouldn’t wish it on her worst enemy. Carmen, a former nun who used to work at the convent reveals to Lorna that Aoife came back from the dead on the day of her confirmation. It is then revealed that she repeated the miracle in Lorna’s house and might be alive.
