The Witcher – Season 3 Episode 4 Recap & Review

The Invitation

Episode 4 of The Witcher season 3 begins with Cahir, now relied on by an appreciative Emhyr, trying to convince Francesca as well as her elves to go on a mission to Nilfgaard. The details, however, are still unknown.

Yennefer succeeds in persuading the Brotherhood about the need for the Conclave. It is well received when she proposes that the Northern Kings, involving Philippa and Vizimir, band together to fight Nilfgaard. After Hedwig’s funeral service, she must travel back from Redania, but the trip is dangerous because her portal is taken over, and a phantom Geralt attacks her.

An even bigger enigma at Aretuza is hinted at by Yennefer’s portal falling apart. Triss and Istredd make the assumption that the text regarding monoliths provided to Aretuza is connected to the eerie disappearances of numerous half-elf novice mages.

Despite their reluctance, Geralt and Ciri take a boat towards Aretuza where they eventually kill the sea monster that was terrorizing the ferryman, Obin. They are joined on their journey by Valdo Marx, the musical opponent of Jaskier, as well as his entire troupe, but they are not much help in dealing with the threat.

Despite her reservations, Ciri comes to understand the significance of their trip to Aretuza after Geralt informs her that Teryn was used as an experimental subject for mind-control experiments and that she might suffer a similar fate if they do nothing.

A lavish ball is waiting for everyone when they get to Aretuza. Ciri is left with Jaskier during this celebration and is shielded using a magical forcefield.

The characters are frantically trying to figure out who is responsible for Lydia, Rience, and the destruction of Yennefer’s portal at the end of episode 4, which leads to everybody suspecting Stregobor. Thereafter, they gather for the party.
