The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – Season 1 Episode 4 Recap & Review

Episode 4 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon begins with a bizarre dream involving some swimming walkers. Daryl then wakes up and sets off to rejoin Isabelle after the big battle with Codron. Daryl spots the pigeon man, Antoine, who is then murdered by people trying to steal his birds. Before dying, he asks Daryl to free his birds. 

He finds Isabelle’s old apartment, and she is inside. They figure out that Laurent has probably gone to the Eiffel Tower. Daryl tells her that Paris sucks. Laurent comes across a group of walkers, who have been quarantined under the base of the Eiffel Tower. The zombies manage to free themselves, and Daryl and Isabelle fight them off, but Laurent is kidnapped during the fight. 

One of the kidnappers, Armand, is left behind, and faces an interrogation from Daryl and Isabelle, leading to the revelation that he is working for Quinn, her ex-boyfriend. Daryl finds a back entrance to the Demimonde club by stabbing Armand repeatedly. They find Fallou, Emile and Sylvie and put together a plan to rescue Laurent. 

Quinn feeds Laurent candy, but he is not fooled by this and figures out that Quinn is his father. Quinn lies about being his father and tells him that Isabelle will be joining them soon. 

Armand tries to trick Daryl in the tunnels, so he leaves him behind to be eaten by a group of hungry ones. Daryl sneaks into the club undetected, getting Laurent out without any resistance. Daryl confronts Quinn on the catwalk on the dance floor and knocks him out, sparing his life as Laurent is watching on. 

Isabelle finds a boat for them to escape, but she knows they won’t get very far without Quinn’s help. She returns to Quinn as Daryl takes Laurent to the nest. 

The Episode Review

This episode is probably the most action-packed of the first season, and it’s gripping from start to finish. The ensemble cast is really strong in this spin-off show.

Daryl’s new group is very intriguing, and the villains make the audience feel like Daryl will have his work cut out to achieve his goals. The revelations about the new characters keep coming, and with two episodes left, a big showdown has been set up for the finale.
