The Unwanted Undead Adventurer – Season 1 Episode 8 Recap & Review

A New Weapon and Power

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Episode 8 begins with Rent heading off to work. He visits the Blacksmith to collect his new sword and practices his strikes using his various powers. The Blacksmith finds it impressive. Rent then tries using all three at once and uses a test sword for this. The sword disintegrates after this strike.

On his way back, he finds a young boy pleading with an adventurer to help him out. The adventurer refuses to help the boy, so Rent intervenes and agrees to help the boy. Rent takes him with him to meet Lorraine where he discusses the matter with her. Ryuntus tells him about the yearly village festival where a young girl is sacrificed to the lord of the lake and asks Rent to help him as his sister is going to be the next sacrifice.

Rent then makes his way to the boy’s village. Arriving at his house, Ryuntus’ sister pulls him into the house and questions him about Rent. She is skeptical about Rent and tells him they are no longer interested in his services. Rent claims Ryuntus has hired him and only he can dismiss him. She then allows him to stay with them but asks him not to interfere in the festival proceedings.

The next day Rent sees a merchant offering kids sweets, trying to convince them to get their parents to buy from him. The merchants urge Rent to leave soon as the river Lord is angry. Rent enquires with Ryuntus if the merchants are often there and gets his confirmation.

The same evening they make the preparations for the sacrifice. The women tell Amiris how worried her brother is for her and the village. Before the sacrifice, Rent approaches Amiris, but she refuses to meet him casually. He waits outside and assures her that he will take care of things.

As the festival begins, Amiris sets sail into the river followed by Ryuntus and Rent. As she enters the waters, the Lord emerges, but Rent is skeptical. He stops her from pleading to the Lord and sets foot on the water. Rent goes through the illusion of the Kraken and discovers a ship sailing behind it. Rent realizes they are using the fog to create an illusion while hiding behind it.

Rent captures them and takes them to the villagers. They reveal that the other girls they had kidnapped are in a hut on the other side of the river. Amiris thanks him with a kiss before he leaves. Reaching home, he thanks Lorraine for the magic portions at the end of The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Episode 8.

The Episode Review

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Episode 8 continues the series with another story that ends perfectly well. Rentt helps Ryuntus save his sister Amiris from a lake Lord who demands human sacrifice. Rent diligently recognizes that it is the doing of humans behind the scenes. The show kind of makes it too obvious from the first interaction that it is the doings of the merchants. This is something they could have kept suspenseful by not making them so suspicious.

Apart from that, the show does an excellent job of presenting the entire storyline. The scenes flow smoothly throughout and make Rentt a very dependable character. Ryuntus and Amaris play important roles as new characters and fall perfectly into their personalities. Amaris is a particularly interesting character as she is initially skeptical of Rentt because she doesn’t want the village to be in trouble if the Lake Lord gets angry.
