The Rookie and the Veteran

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Episode 2 opens with Rentt in ghoul form, killing Goblins. The scene switches to Rina exploring the dungeon and defeating a skeleton. Rentt watches from a distance. She encounters yet another skeleton but struggles. Rentt decides to step in and help her out.

After defeating the skeleton, he drops his weapon, signalling that he is friendly. He attempts to talk to her and conveys that he isn’t dangerous. She puts the pieces together and figures out that he is an adventurer. She asks if she can go back, and he agrees but asks her to buy clothes for him.

The same evening, Rina heads back to talk to Sheila. Meanwhile, Rentt slays more monsters to improve his stats. Rina brings him clothes and impresses him with her consideration. Rentt likes the outfit a lot; however, his face is visible, which can cause suspicion.

Rina offers him a mask for that, but as soon as he wears it, it gets stuck to his face and doesn’t come off. He realizes it is a cursed mask, and Rina apologizes for it. She holds Rentt’s hand and apologizes for her mistake. Rentt and Rina travel back to Maalt.

They attempt to enter the city, but the people are familiar with him and will recognize him from his ID. They decide to enter the city through another gate. Rentt cautions her about the consequences of the guards finding out, but she decides to stick with him.

Upon entering the gate, he gets stopped by the guards. After checking his ID, they become suspicious about his mask. Rina helps him make up a story, and he is allowed into the city. After entering, he disappears, not wanting to put Rina through any further trouble.

Later that night, Rentt visits Lorraine’s house and finds the door open with her sleeping inside. He enters and wakes her up. She instantly recognizes him, and he shows her his rotting hand at the end of The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Episode 2.

The Episode Review

The Unwanted Undead Adventurer Episode 2 introduces some interesting new developments to the story, some that seemed rather far-fetched. However, this makes it intriguing as Rentt has to survive in the town without anyone finding out. Rentt is fortunate enough to have the rookie stop by and help him back into the city. The episode also introduces Rina, a young adventurer who is kind and extremely considerate.

The chapter also features light sword fighting. The action has been kept very simple, considering he is just a beginner, but it will be interesting to see what shape the action takes as he levels up.
