Episode 6
Episode 6 of The Trunk begins 2 years ago. Seo-yeon and Jeong-won are suitcase shopping when he runs into In-ji. She instantly catches his eye as she pretends to kill a spider but doesn’t. He tries to talk to her but she leaves while Seo-yeon looks into the trunk In-ji bought.
At present, Seo-yeon claims that Mr. Han dying is punishment enough and she is ready to take Jeong-won back. She also reveals that she married Ji-o from NM but no one is surprised.
Jeong-won wants to take the blue pill but he doesn’t. He is unable to fall asleep and lies in In-ji’s bed. He imagines their life 20 years later and she finds it tedious. But she can do it for him and they fall asleep. He has a nightmare of smothering In-ji and wakes up to find her gone.
She is visiting In-yeong who reveals that Do-ha has vanished from Budapest. It is too late to get an abortion for her and her husband still isn’t forthcoming. In-ji gives her money and tells her to get a divorce.
Meanwhile, Si-jeong gets wary of the goldfish constantly dying and installs a CCTV at In-ji’s which catches a man cleaning the fish tank. She changes the door’s lock but cannot figure out if the man is Tae-song or Do-ha. She tells In-ji and the CCTV has her connecting dots with Seo-yeon’s random comments about their house.
As for Jeong-won, he frantically checks on In-ji and is relieved when she picks up. He again hallucinates but this time of someone killing him before Tae-song interrupts. Jeong-won grudgingly agrees to a meal and Tae-song rambles about why he likes In-ji. She and Do-ha were in his baking class and he saw her breakdown when Do-ha’s scandal came out. And instead of comforting her, Do-ha disappeared while the other men in the photos made her sign NDAs. But she continues to be tenacious which is why Tae-song likes her.
Seo-yeon continues to toy with the men as she doesn’t believe Ji-o is in love with her. She tells Jeong-won to quickly get a divorce so they can go back to the way things were. He doesn’t want it as he finally addresses his pill addiction when he is with her. She is further frustrated when Ji-o reveals that In-ji has stopped by.
The co-workers disagree over what type of person Seo-yeon is but Ji-o helps In-ji by confirming the spycam in the new chandelier. She is shocked to see it in person as she watches Jeong-won make dinner and text her about it. She is gone by the time Seo-yeon arrives.
In-ji and Jeong-won have a quiet dinner but she breaks down as he heads upstairs. Having had enough, she texts Seo-yeon from Jeong-won’s phone, asking for more pills.
Seo-yeon’s delight crumbles as she sees that it is In-ji who has arrived. She doesn’t understand why In-ji cares and claims they are anyway getting a divorce. In-ji refuses and lashes out at her for controlling Jeong-won via pills and the spycam. It seems Seo-yeon doesn’t know about Mr. Han’s chandelier-spycam move as she is momentarily shocked. But she is angered as In-ji warns her to stay away. A scuffle ensues before In-ji pushes her away and leaves. Upset, Seo-yeon rushes home and tries to hook up with Ji-o but he refuses.
Meanwhile, Jeong-won confides in Hyeon-cheol that he likes In-ji and wants to be with her. However, Hyeon-cheol, having read the manual, reveals that they cannot do anything as it is against protocol. But he does want Jeong-won to cut ties with Seo-yeon as she is a bad influence. Morose, Jeong-won waits for In-ji and she hugs him upon seeing him. They have burgers and he confesses that he missed her. She tries to joke but he kisses her. She holds his hand and they eat in pleasant silence.
He joins her in kayaking and she reveals she took it up since she couldn’t swim. She did learn, but after Hye-yeong killed herself by drowning, she could not swim again.
Tae-song shows up at Seo-yeon’s office as he finds out about the spycam chandelier. It seems like he wants to blackmail her and Ji-o overhears. She simply laughs but then stops when she spies a blade nearby.
In the flashforward interrogation, Yun-a shares that Seo-yeon hated Tae-song and he had tried to blackmail her. The cops also notice a small stab wound on his leg.
At present, he once again meets Jeong-won and blabbers about how he and In-ji are meant to be together. However, what worries Jeong-won is when Tae-song decides that if he cannot have her they must die together.
Another flashforward shows Officer Kim meeting with a cop who was put on Jeong-won’s case when he was arrested for drugs at age 17 after his mom’s suicide. The older cop reveals that he had been shocked to find blue pills on Jeong-won as they are hard to make and are a type of cannabis. He wonders if Jeong-won has killed someone and Kim says he hasn’t.
In-ji stops by her place again and sees that her engagement photo has been unfolded and framed properly. She is in shock but decides to first transfer a spider to the roof. At the same time, Tae-song pops up to check on her place and is frustrated when he sees the door lock has changed. Do-ha suddenly opens it and stabs him in the leg.
At the end of The Trunk Episode 6, In-ji comes back and sees blood all over the hallway. Her door is open and she enters.
The Episode Review
The Trunk Episode 6 adds a new player to the mix and we are glad it is Do-ha. His timing could not be more perfect with the way he stabbed Tae-song. But we doubt he is the one to kill Tae-song. Our bet is on In-ji or Seo-yeon since Ji-o is at the crime scene and Jeong-won has been cleared by the cops.
This Netflix K-drama also knows when to push our buttons and when to give us satisfying moments. Pretty sure every viewer was waiting with bated breath and wishing for In-ji to find out about the spycam before Seo-yeon got home. And that fight between them with In-ji constantly kicking her down was just the cherry on top. Get that girl!
Also, every time we wonder if Seo-yeon can fall any lower, she just does… Not only did she bully someone to death literally, but she very likely got Jeong-won addicted to those blue pills. If even the oblivious Hyeon-cheol knows that she is a bad influence, that’s not a good sign, Seo-yeon.
