The Tattooist of Auschwitz is a new drama series currently airing on Sky Atlantic in the UK and Peacock in the US.

This 6-part series tells the story of Lale Sokolov (Jonah Hauer-King), a Slovakian Jew, who, in 1942, is deported to Auschwitz where he meets and falls in love with a young woman named Gita Furman.

Jonah Hauer-King stars as young Lale Sokolov

Jonah Hauer King is an actor you might recognize from the 2023 remake of The Little Mermaid and the WWII drama World on Fire. 

Jonah returns to a wartime setting in The Tattooist of Auschwitz. He stars as Lale Sokolov, a young Jewish man who is tasked with the job of tattooist at Auschwitz. He tattoos identification numbers on the arms of his fellow prisoners, one of whom is Gale Furman, with whom he falls in love. 


Harvey Keitel stars as modern-day Lale Sokolov

Harvey Keitel has appeared in some of the best movies of all time, many of them in collaboration with director Martin Scorsese. Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, and Reservoir Dogs are some of his best-known films but he has starred in over 100 other features. 

In The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Harvey stars as the older Lale Sokolov who we meet in the present day. Lale is haunted by his time at the concentration camp so decides to share his story with writer Heather Morris, who writes a book based on his testimony.


Anna Próchniak stars as Gita Furman

Polish actress Anna Próchniak has starred in such films as Bad Day for the Cut and The Innocents. She also appeared in the crime thriller TV series Baptiste.

In The Tattoo of Auschwitz, she stars as Gita, the Jewish woman who falls in love with Lale and secretly meets with him at the concentration camp.


Melanie Lynskey stars as Heather Morris

Yellowjackets, Castle Rock, and The Last of Us are just a few of the TV shows that Melanie has starred in over the years. She has also appeared in such films as Lady of the Manor and Don’t Look Up.

In The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Melanie stars as Heather Morris, the author Lale entrusts to tell his story.


Jonas Nay stars as Stefan Baretzki

German actor Jonas Nay is known for his work in such television series as Transatlantic, Deutschland 89, and Intimate.

In The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Jonas stars as Stefan Baretzki, a Nazi SS guard who is both kind and intimidating towards Lale Sokolov. He helps to facilitate Lale’s romance with Gita but also threatens to expose it.

Olivia Popica as Nadya, a Romani woman who develops a friendship with Lale.

Mili Eshet as Ivana, one of Gita’s closest friends in the camp.

Tallulah Haddon as Hanna, another of Gita’s confidantes.

Gonny Gaakeer as Naomi, who helps a fellow inmate give birth.

Yali Topol Margalith as Cilka, a 16-year-old prisoner who is hardened to her fate.

Ilan Galkoff as Aaron, a blockmate of Lale’s.

Phénix Brossard as Leon, a young man who becomes a tattooist.

Matthias Zera as Dr Schumann, a medic who gives Lale medicine for Gita.
