The Sympathizer
The Sympathizer revolves after the haydays of the Vietnam war where a North Vietnamese spy, planted in the South Vietnam army, is forced to flee to the enemy country of the United States along with his general. As he mingles with the South Vietnamese refugees, living a double life, it’s only a matter of time before he finds himself conflicted between his drastically paradoxical selves.
The Sympathizer is a historical black comedy based on Vietnamese/ American novelist Viet Thanh Nguyen’s 2015 Pulitzer prize winning novel of the same name. To top it off, the series flaunts a star cast with Hoa Xuande Nguyen in the main role of the Captain, Robert Downey Jr. in multiple disguises or roles and many others, including Sandra Oh in a recurring role.
Where Can I Watch The Sympathizer?
The Sympathizer is an HBO Original series produced by A24 and thus, will be aired on HBO and it will also be simultaneously available to watch on Max.
The Sympathizer Episode 3 Release Date
The entire schedule for The Sympathizer so far is as follows:
Episode 3 will be released on Sunday 28th April at 1am (GMT) / 9pm (ET). This is a weekly show, with 1 episode releasing each week every Sunday.
Expect episode 3 to be roughly 50-55 mins each, which is consistent with the timeframe for the rest of the show.

How Many Episodes Will The Sympathizer Have?
It has been officially announced that The Sympathizer will drop with 7 episodes, with one episode releasing each week. So with that in mind, we’ve got 4 more episodes left after this week’s release. As long as the schedule doesn’t change, it should look something like this:

- Episode 5 – May 12th
- Episode 6 – May 19th
- Episode 7 – May 26th
