Episode 3
Episode 3 of The Snow Girl 2: The Soul Game begins with God’s Raven revealing it is game over if Miren goes to the cops. Her first task will begin in 24 hours and one won’t ascend to Heaven without pain.
At the yacht, Jaime meets Tomas who lives all alone and away from his family. He still cares for Laura and insists that she would have never left Nacho. He doesn’t know if she is dead but he believes there is a connection with Allison.
The next day, Miren asks Nacho to ask his classmates about The Soul Game. As she leaves, the red jacket guys sneaks into her building.
Meanwhile, Belen and Chaparro visit Garrido. He is talking to a student in his office and she looks disturbed. The cops ask Garrido about his fanatic beliefs that led to his dismissal from the church. He simply claims one can never lose one’s faith. Belen brings up Allison’s abortion and he looks surprised and angry as he is pro-life.
Elsewhere, Jaime is going through the police files on Laura courtesy of Tomas. She never made it to his place. She got down after a couple of stops the night she died.
While waiting for the witness to show up, Miren asks Jaime about The Soul Game. He teases her as he thinks she is into a role-playing video game. As she shares details, he reveals there was a tradition in Los Arcos which he thought was just a hazing ritual. Once selected, the “chosen” kid would have to pass a couple of challenges/tests.
The witness, a florist near the bus stop, shows up and is initially hesitant. However, he reveals that Laura had looked at the flowers and was quite sad. She then got into an expensive car and knew the driver. The cops never took his official statement after he informed them.
Allison’s funeral takes place and Garrido comforts Juana. Belen watches from afar when she is alerted that the tech team has retrieved some of the data from Allison’s phone and laptop. Her search history is all about pregnancies, abortions and how it is a sin. Her password is the same as the one Miren used to get into God’s Raven’s website.
After scouring through the files, Jaime doesn’t think there is any connection between Allison and Laura. Miren believes the two girls played the game but she needs to find a player to confirm her suspicions. She Googles accidents at Los Arcos and finds Borja Pineda. She realises that the accident was due to him trying to complete a challenge.
Nacho hits a dead end with his question but he was classmates with Borja. He and Miren head to Borja’s and on the way, she asks about Laura. She believes Laura was more than a devout follower and a scholarship student. She shares a victim deserves justice regardless of being a good or bad human being. However, Nacho insists that Laura was kind. She saved him from a fire that killed his parents. He also looks up to Miren and wishes he was strong like her.
Meanwhile, Jamie speaks to Julio, the lead investigator on Laura’s case. He asks about the witness and the cop gets defensive. He claims he did all he could and hangs up.
As for Borja, he is paranoid and his face is scarred. He reveals that he was a loner and God’s Raven was his first friend. By playing the game, it made him feel alive. And his first test was to carve a cross on his wrist. He also shares that the idea of God’s Raven comes from The First Book of Kings, chapter 17 (Miren and Allison’s password is ‘1re17’). Ravens will look after them if they listen to God.
Belen and Chaparro finally get a lead on the abortion clinic. The doctor, Yolanda reveals that Allison did visit her clinic but couldn’t afford it. On top of that, one of the male pro-life protestors outside shoved a murder pamphlet to Allison and she confronted him. It is Laura’s uncle, Cristobal and he’d told Yolanda he knew Allison.
Having hit the dead-end with the investigator, Tomas and Jaime discuss Laura’s case. Tomas believes someone planted Laura’s phone at the bus station as a distraction. He has been investigating on his own and found a child trafficking ring in Costa del Sol that peddles porn and snuff films. Their victims are poor girls like Laura and he claims the cops are involved. Their logo is a slide on a yellow background.
At the end of The Snow Girl 2: The Soul Game Episode 3, Miren’s first task begins as she gets a paper cutter in her letterbox. God’s Raven texts that he wants to save her as she is miserable and guilty. He shares a video of Allison doing the first test. He adds that Miren will find the truth if she plays the game. She is hesitant but carves the cross on her wrist and completes the first test.
The Episode Review
The Snow Girl 2: The Soul Game Episode 3 is still a little stingy with the reveals but we finally have a clear answer to what the Soul Game is. Oh, and the Netflix show may not have shown all their cards yet but we’d love to predict what happens next from all the clues they have graced us with. Cristobel is possibly involved in the Soul Game, Laura goes undercover to expose them and after she is caught, they sell her to the “slide” trafficking ring.
Miren and Jaime’s bickering at the bus stop was a pretty cool moment as well. For such a dark and heavy show, it is good to see more sides to them, light-hearted moments and interactions that are not wholly focused on the case. This helps the show from getting too tedious and dull. And is it just us or does Nacho seem to have a thing for Miren?
