The Good Partner Test
In The Sex Lives of College Girls Season 3 Episode 8, everyone cheers on Whitney as she scores the winning goal to get them to the championships.
Willow overhears an exchange between Whitney and the coach about her cortisone shots, so she confronts Whitney, saying the shots will just mask the pain while the injury gets worse. But Whitney waves off her concerns, claiming she wants to help the team in the playoffs.
Later, Bela reveals that she finally had sex with Arvind, but thought it was just okay, as he acted more tenderly than she’s used to.
Kacey tells the others she wants to give Cooper the “good partner test.” It’s a series of tests she’ll run on him to determine if he’ll be a good long-term partner. She suggests they run tests together on all their guys.
One by one, they invite the guys they’ve been seeing into their suite and put them through a series of tests.
Arvind does pretty well, although he does fail to be honest with Bela when she asks for his opinion on an ugly hat. Cooper passes Kacey’s loyalty test with flying colors. And Brian answers Kimberly’s rapid-fire questions with ease.
But when Isaiah arrives for his test, Whitney essentially encourages him to fail. She then brings Canaan in for a test but realizes halfway through that she’s stopped caring about the test entirely. She just enjoys being with him.
After the tests, Bela surprises Arvind in his room and initiates sex. But when they each reveal how many people they’ve had sex with (two for him; twenty or so for her), he becomes distant and shuts things down.
Meanwhile, Whitney texts with Canaan. She also gets a text from her coach, who reprimands her for missing tonight’s workout, calling her behavior “unacceptable” as a leader of the team.
Later, Kacey approaches Calvin to ask him why he cheated on her. He responds that it wasn’t about her, but rather about how he didn’t want to wait four years to have sex. He doesn’t think any guy would be able to.
After her talk with Calvin, Kacey texts Cooper, “I think I could be ready.” But it’s obvious from her face that she doesn’t believe her own words.
The Episode Review
The test made for a playful and amusing format for this episode. Plus, it’s always fun to see all of the main cast together for the majority of the episode.
While Canaan and Whitney getting back together isn’t shocking, I was surprised to find that they actually make sense. It hasn’t really been there before, but I see their chemistry in this episode.
It is a bit disconcerting to see everyone glossing over Whitney’s kiss with him, however–especially as the cheating was premeditated. But she’ll still have to reckon with how to break things to Isaiah. There’s no glossing over that (I hope?).
