Episode 6
Episode 6 of The On1y One begins with Tian seeing that Wang has turned his profile picture black. He’s about to knock on Wang’s door when the light inside goes out. Instead, he texts him a question mark. Wang doesn’t respond.
Instead, he begins to draw up a weekly schedule on a piece of paper. When Crab calls, they talk about it and Crab recalls a story about a boy who lived his life on a schedule but wasn’t happy in the end. Wang’s schedule includes long-term plans for studying abroad as well.
In the morning, Wang replies to Tian’s message but Tian says it’s nothing. When Wang goes downstairs for breakfast, he catches the parents discussing whether Auntie Jiang should go back to work or not. They stop when they see him.
The boys quickly finish their breakfast and leave. Tian races after Wang and offers him the Hawthorne sweet but Wang says he doesn’t need it anymore. He’s used to Auntie Jiang’s food now.
Later, Tian fills out the form to apply for accommodation at the school. At school, Tian tells Wang they should go have lunch at Uncle Ding’s place. He agrees.
Turns out, Wang has bought a new fridge for Uncle Ding. The latter says he shouldn’t have made a fuss and bought it without telling him. In a way, Ding tells Tian that this is Wang’s way of not owing anybody (like he owed Ding for the lunch he fed them). Later, Tian buys Wang a bottle of water and Wang insists on buying Tian one in return. With Ding’s words ringing in his head, he realises Wang means to keep more distance between them. Tian gets angry and storms off.
When they return to class, the teacher tells them that the parent-teacher meetings will be held soon. Immediately afterwards, Wang sneaks out to make a phone call. He tries to call his uncle and asks him to pretend to be his dad again but dials Tian’s number by mistake. Meanwhile, Tianyang thinks _ got her period and fusses about to help her. Of course, he doesn’t realise she’s just got tomato sauce on her skirt.
Wang goes to the teacher’s office and says his father won’t be able to attend the meeting since he’s away on business trips. Tian enters and says his mother won’t be able to make it as well. The teacher tells them to set another date just for their parents. The boys are then sent to the Dean’s office, where Xi has brought the bullies who ambushed Wang in front of the other teachers.
The bullies reveal that it was Qi Jiahao who told them to beat up Wang so that he would miss his exam. The teachers all tell Qi Jiahao off and the model student title goes to Wang. Wang gives it up and when it goes to Tian, he gives it up too. As they leave the office, Wang unintentionally admits that he’s been ignoring Tian.
Xi and Lin invite the boys over for a meal at the restaurant. While eating, Xi tells them the story of how he and Lin met and decided to open a cafe. The name of the cafe is Alors Cafe and Wang wonders what it means. The conversation moves to the topic of youth and the impulsiveness of that age.
Xi praises the sense of impulsiveness and says you can’t plan things out all the time. Wang remembers the end of the story Crab was talking about. The boy was sad because he realised life is not a written theory.
On the way back, Tian tells Wang to hurry. He grabs his hand and they run back to class. When they reach, Tian tells the class monitor that he’s not going to move into the school’s accommodation. He then strikes a deal with Wang – Wang will have lunch with Tian and Tian will live with Wang. Wang can’t stop smiling. As class begins, Tian texts Wang and tells him not to treat him indifferently ever again. Wang agrees.
As they go back home, they pass by a road that Wang used to visit with his parents when he was a kid. He then talks about how he used to want a sibling at one time but then quickly changes the topic. They sit by the riverside together.
Later, Crab calls Wang and rants about how the girls from Wang’s school have been posting confessions for him. They’ve been posting pictures of Wang but some of them have also crushed on Tian, whose back is seen in the background of the pictures.
Wang then changed his profile picture and Tian, seeing it, comes to his room to give him a practice book. He ends up giving Wang a crash course in writing instead. After lots of practice, Wang gets tired and ends up crashing on Tian’s bed instead of going to his own room.
An epilogue of The On1y One Episode 6 shows Jang Tian’s Very Moment’ when Wang rushed to call his uncle and dialled Tian instead. Later, Tian lied to his mother and told her there was no need to come to the parent-teacher meeting.
The Episode Review
The On1y One Episode 6 has Wang giving Tian the cold shoulder and it’s actually fascinating to watch the effect on Tian. For a change, the tables are turned and Tian is the one who is concerned about Wang’s opinion and thoughts. For once, Tian doesn’t see through him immediately.
Uncle Ding plays a key role here in making Tian realise what’s happening and like he says, it’s interesting that both the boys have a tendency to push others away under specific circumstances.
We’re halfway through the series now and Wang and Tian’s relationship has come very far. They’ve reached a sort of equilibrium where they acknowledge that they like and care about each other. So far, the drama has offered a serene, slice-of-life story and some stunning visuals. Of course, it is all carried on the shoulders of such a strong leading pair. So, here’s hoping the latter half of the season is as strong as the first half!
