Government Property
Episode 3 of The Night Agent Season 2 starts with Peter picking up Warren’s phone. We circle back to seven months ago when Rose had her first interview to work and Adverse. Of course, the CEO was surprised since Rose was too talented for the position she applied to, but she insisted.
Currently, Rose is at the bus stop while Peter is on the phone with Jacob Monroe. Yes, the man behind the ill-fated mess that was the Bangkok mission. For obvious reasons. Jacob wants Peter to give himself up to save Rose. He knows that Peter is the only person who can identify him, and he wants him dead.
As expected, Peter is not ready to meet his maker and doesn’t trust Jacob to keep his word. He manoeuvres his way out of the building while also on the phone with Rose. He warns her and gives her a running start. Unfortunately, it takes Peter a while to get out of the building. After all, there is a sniper and at least two assassins after him. In the meantime, Rose is running through the streets, passing through kitchens, and listening to Peter guide her to safety.
Unfortunately, one of the assassins, Solomon, finds her, and a fight ensues. She ends up stabbing him and getting away. However, there are two more assassins after her, and she doesn’t seriously maim Solomon. He is about to catch up to her when Catherine pulls Rose from the street and hides with her. Sadly, she gets disconnected from Peter, and he worries she is caught.
Later, after she and Catherine lose the assassins, she texts Peter and explains she is with Catherine. She asks him to meet up with them, but she is aware that Peter still doesn’t trust Catherine. At the same time, Catherine offers Rose security and suggests she return to California.
After losing the assassins, Peter, Catherine, and Rose reunite. Catherine is not pleased that Peter is suspicious of her and refuses to work for her. She asks to be debriefed and shows Peter a picture of Solomon. Peter identifies Solomon as Alice’s killer. He also tells Catherine about the call from Jacob and Warren’s death. He lies that Warren gave him nothing.
Catherine threatens to pull him out of the case, but Peter leverages being the only person who can identify Jacob. As such, Catherine agrees to keep him on the case and promises to look into Solomon. Peter asks for money and a car. They agree that he will keep Rose safe until they figure out what to do with her.
At home, Rose and Peter talk about whether she should stay in New York or return to work. Later at night, Rose has a nightmare, and Peter comforts her. In the morning, they talk about her PTSD and her therapy. They also start looking into Solomon.
Presently, they only have a picture of him, but no name. Thanks to Adverse, they get a hit from a newspaper dated six years ago. According to the obituary, Solomon Vega died six years ago and was a former Marine.
Peter searches the government system, but Solomon Vega’s files are missing. He assumes that someone influential must have deleted the files. Rose tries to use Adverse again but finds herself locked out. Her boss calls and revokes her rights to access the programme.
He is angry she has been using the app to stalk people and thinks she is making an investor play behind his back. He insists that she go back to California to talk about the future of her job. In the meantime, Peter finds an address for Solomon’s sister, and he and Rose visit her.
Meanwhile, Noor is still spying for the Americans. She starts flirting with Javad to find out more about Abbas’s schedule. Unfortunately for her, Javad is a good security guy, and he refuses to divulge any details. She resorts to getting a tag and hiding it in Abbas’s coat.
Once her boss and Javad leave the embassy, she follows them. She takes pictures of Abbas’s meeting with Solomon and securing a briefcase. She also takes up close pictures of Solomon’s face. She calls her CIA handler and sends him the pictures. However, Noor doesn’t have pictures of what is in the briefcase or what was discussed in the meeting. She promises to get more information, but her handler warns her that it is too dangerous.
Now, Noor is not a trained spy, and she is spotted by Javad. Thankfully, she quickly hides, and Javad is not sure what or who he saw. Still, when they go out for lunch and a walk in the city, he asks her about her day. Once again, she lies, and he believes her.
Elsewhere, we are introduced to Tomas Bala, the son of a war criminal being held in the Hague. Tomas reaches out to an old college friend who works for the Foreign Secretary. Tomas wants Elliot to put in a good word for his father with the Foreign Secretary. Elliot refuses to compromise; his boss Tomas is disappointed, and his wife, Sloane, tries to cheer him up.
On the other hand, Rose and Peter meet with Solomon’s sister, Celeste. She is disabled and seems heartbroken about her brother’s death. She feels like she is to blame, since Solomon quit his job to take care of her after the accident.
Peter steals Celeste’s mail and finds a bank statement showing Celeste receives money from KinCare Trust. They believe Solomon might be using KinCare Trust to financially support his sister. Rose calls Catherine and expresses her desire to stay in New York with Peter. She promises to help Catherine get through to Peter.
Later, the three meet up and discuss the case. Peter hands over Celeste’s bank statement to Catherine, and she updates them on her findings into Solomon. There is nothing much since his files are wiped from the system.
Peter is still hung up on what happened in Bangkok and demands to know what Catherine’s after-report investigation revealed. Sadly, the investigation revealed nothing. Peter finally opens up about Foxglove and plays the tape he recorded when he held Warren hostage.
The scene cuts to military officers loading up a truck. Unfortunately, the truck is raided on its way to some secure destination. The masked men kill the two men in the truck, dump their bodies, and take the truck.
On the other hand, Peter agrees to protect Rose, and Catherine clarifies that Rose is not helping in any official role. She also explains that Mosley is already talking to the CIA to look into Foxglove. She also shares that Solomon’s face was earlier taken by an Iranian spy. Catherine informs Peter and Rose that they will be taking over Noor’s case.
The episode ends with Tomas getting a voice note from Markus, his cousin, informing him that they took the whole truck which was not part of the plan.
The Episode Review
We are now getting to the heart of the mystery, and each episode is raising the stakes as we gear up for what might be a chemical weapon attack. Thanks to Noor, Night Action can tie Solomon to Abbas, but there are more players in this game than we expected. It turns out Tomas and his cousin Markus have been up to no good. At this point, they are not on anyone’s radar, but how are they linked to the Iranians?
Meanwhile, our girl Noor is playing with fire. Javad might like her, but there are so many lies he can overlook. The real question is, once he finds out what Noor is up to, will he still choose her? Between his love for his country and his growing feelings for Noor, which one will win?
On the other hand, Peter and Catherine are finally getting somewhere. They are slowly trusting each other, and Rose has played a big part in this. Still, will Rose staying in New York jeopardise her life and the mission? It is hard to tell if she is an asset or a liability in this investigation. There is no denying she is talented, but we can’t ignore the fact that she has no training and might slow Peter down.
