Trigger
In episode 10 of The Impossible Heir, we discover that In-ha came to talk to the chairman, who revealed his plans to oust In-ha from the bloodline. As a result, In-ha leaves the chairman to die as the chairman gets a heart attack. Unfortunately Hee-ju finds him (supposedly on time even though he is underwater) and gets him rushed to the hospital. The Kang family arrive at the hospital, where they are told that the chairman’s condition is serious.
Meanwhile, Tae-oh visits the chairman’s office and it seems like he’s getting ready for a plan. In-ha realises that there might be a secret room in the chairman’s office and visits to check. He does find the room and concludes that Tae-oh was here.
Meanwhile, Tae-oh visits prosecutor Ha – the one Tae-oh framed for the sake of getting the chairman out of the embezzlement mess. He explains about the mobile phone evidence and promises to get Ha back to Seoul. Prosecutor Ha reluctantly agrees to help Tae-oh. Ha steals the mobile phone but finds nothing in the photo and video section.
He gives the phone to Tae-oh who opens another folder to find all the evidence in there (facepalm). Meanwhile, Seonu Wan had seen the two together but he decides to help Tae-oh and doesn’t inform In-ha.
The prosecutor takes the evident to the District Attorney who allows him to reopen the case. Tae-oh turns himself to the police as the prosecutors arrest Mo Gi-jun. Tae-oh decides to go for Gi-jun first and keep In-ha as an accomplice a secret for now.
Guem-seuk is now on a roll. She’s planning to make Seong-ju, the CEO of the group. Chu Hyuk-jin becomes Tae-oh’s lawyer on the order of the chairman, who wanted to help Tae-oh. Meanwhile, In-ha is trying to get Park Sa-jin back to his side but Sa-jin comments that the moment chairman wakes up, In-ha is out of the game.
Meanwhile, Mo Gi-jun happily takes all the blame of the murders in the investigation.
At the prison, Tae-oh tells Boss Tak about a paper company Gold H Investment. Tae-oh made the company to make In-ha the chairman, which In-ha isn’t aware of as well. Tae-oh asks if Tak is interested in real gambling – taking Kang-oh over.
Tak is released from prison the next day and Hye-won visits him, suggesting that Tak is to disguise himself as Gold H Investment’s founder Michael Chang. Sunwo also joins them. It’s revealed that as soon as Mo Gi-jun was arrested, Sunwo suggested the Gold H Investment plan to Tae-oh.
Geum-seok is briefed about Gold H Investment’s share in the Kang Oh group by Seung-ju. The shares are pretty high and concerning, even for In-ha. Meanwhile, Tae-oh is declared innocent by the court.
Elsewhere, In-ha is bothered by his father’s existence and so, he decides to kill him. Just when In-ha is about to take off the oxygen mask, Tae-oh arrives and stops him.
The Episode Review
The plot is a mess now. It’s predictable, monotonous and downright boring. We feel no connection to the characters at all and even when the show wants us to feel something on Tae-oh’s prison release, there is nothing to drive any emotions in the viewers. Why? because the show was plot driven from the beginning (and not even a good plot), and character depth and character arc are missing-in-action since the beginning.
On top of this, the chairman clearly has a heart attack and is found underwater by Hee-ju. Considering, Hee-ju and In-ha did not meet on the way, it must have been at least 15-20 mins of chairman being underwater, and yet, he survived? Writer-nim, how?!
The show opened side plots, introduced new characters and conveniently brushed them aside to focus on the ‘In-ha got crazy’ plotline. Overall, I cannot wait for this show to end next week finally, and blow it a kiss that says “Rest In Peace forever and see you never.”
