The Idol Season 1 Episode 5 Preview: Release Date, Time & Where To Watch

The Idol Season 1 Episode 5

The Idol has quickly become HBO’s most talked-about show of the year. Created by Sam Levinson (Euphoria) and The Weekend (yes, the singer), The Idol focuses on the chaotic life of Jocleyn, a young, troubled pop sensation in the aftermath of her mother’s death. Jocelyn’s mother was both her pillar and abuser. She seeks to find redemption in the arms of Tedros, a shady self-proclaimed music producer and self-help guru.

Lily-Rose Depp stars as Jocelyn and this might very well be her breakout role. The Idol has been the subject of controversy due to its overt display of sex and nightmarish representation of a pop star’s struggles within the music industry. The Idol should continue to gain more heat as it heads towards its next episode.

How Many Episodes Will The Idol Have?

Season 1 of The Idol has been commissioned for 5 episodes, so the upcoming episode is the finale for this season. The original plan was to come out with the traditional six-episode series. But the last one was spread over the running time of the other episodes.

What happened in Episode 4?

Episode 4 of The Idol saw Destiny, one of Jocelyn’s managers, stay with her in the house for a week. She discovered some disturbing history about Maurice Costello Jones, a.k.a., Tedros, and wanted a strong presence for Jocelyn in her personal space. Kanye’s producer Mike Dean and his team guest-starred in the episode to bang out some tunes with Jocelyn. This creative musical experiment goes really well.

Destiny also discovers that despite Tedros’ shady history and problematic personality, he has the talent to eke out the best in a potential star. Dyanne, who was supposed to be Jocelyn’s backup dancer for World Class Sinner (Joss’ new single), is offered the single by Nikki, Magistrate Records’ executive. Tensions run high throughout as Jocelyn starts to assume control of the relationship, which makes Tedros very unsettled.
