What Happened In Episode 3?
In The Fire Hunter Season 2 Episode 3, Kanata leaves Roroku, Koushi, and Kun behind to look for Touko. Koushi tells Roroku that he and Kun plan to track Kanata down. He asks Roroku and Mizore to look for Akira. Elsewhere, Hibari and the Flickering Flame chat about the divine clans’ plans for her. Additionally, they touch upon Touko’s character and her goal to find Kanata.
Then, we cut to Koushi and Kun, who’ve lost sight of Kanata. Koushi asks Kun to find Kanata with his bugs. While strolling through town, Touko finds Takiguchi’s lightning cannon and several corpses. She leaves the area and eventually bumps into Kanata. Kun informs Koushi about these developments but says he senses a shadowy presence near Touko’s location.
An earthquake occurs and two treefolk rise from the ground and greet Touko. They inform Touko about their plans while Touko tells them what happened to one of their members. Then, a rosebud surfaces, and a being named Ruri arrives. We learn Ruri recreated the treefolk and Ruri tells the two treefolk that their ally Kiri is tending to humanity’s needs alongside Koushi’s sister, Hinako.
Additionally, she discusses humanity’s decision to set factories and trees ablaze. She blames Hibari for this madness and leaves. Touko tells the two treefolk she and Kanata will be looking for Koushi and Kun. She asks them to find Kiri and protect Hinako. We cut to Kun and Koushi exploring an underground area.
They discuss On, the Spiders’ bugs, and Kanata’s incredible search abilities briefly. Then, Koushi hears someone coming and tells Kun to hide with him somewhere. Several maids rush through the area. Before the two can continue exploring, they’re stopped by a random maid. This maid tells them to hide, otherwise, they’ll burn. She reveals she’s no longer human and the episode closes with her crushing Koushi’s lantern.
