The Fiery Priest Season 2 Episode 9

The Fiery Priest is a thrilling K-drama that finally returns after a whopping 5 years. Following its explosive reaction, we are now getting a Season 2 with all of our favourites returning. Said to be a comedy crime thriller like its prequel, it has exciting themes of mystery, corruption, messy investigations, action and a whole lot of comedy.

The K-drama picks up 5 years later with our Bargain Basement Heroes reuniting once again when Kim Hae-il aka Father Michael disappears. Our fiery priest has set his sights on a new drug scandal but refuses help since it is dangerous and involves rival cartels warring with each other.

Of course, that is not going to stop his group as they decide to join him in taking down the Busan drug trafficking ring once and for all. And this time, a new face joins them – the no-nonsense and brash Koo Ja-yeong.

The epic ensemble cast includes familiar faces such as Kim Nam-gil, Honey Lee, Kim Sung-kyun, Sung Joon, Seo Hyun-woo, BIBI, Kim Won-hae, Go Gyu-pil, Ahn Chang-hwan and Yang Hyun-min. And Season 2 is in good hands as it is helmed by Season 1’s writer Park Jae-bum who is also known for hits like Vincenzo and Good Manager.

  1. What do you hope to see as the series progresses?
I would like to see the series progress towards this AU plot➡ based on Nobody Knows(2020 TV series) and The Fiery Priest (2019-2024)- So Ep 8 shows the main leads of the Fiery team(FT) in unfortunate circumstances ( ML, FL). Chief Go trying to go under the radar in a desperate attempt to protect the priest sounds like there might be the need for the intervention of Detective Cha (Nobody Knows), as a temporary chief being transferred to Busan (because the entire police department is corrupt) only to witness the priest blacked out. The detective’s entry could be a good /bad thing for the FT.
Bad: Detective Cha clearing out any unauthorised investigations, which means FT’s current situation is stranded OR
Good: The detective realizes that it’s beyond the law to tackle a dangerous drug cartel, so she decides to team up but stays cautious as she prioritizes that the priest is a civilian who cannot get involved unofficially.
    Extra:
Also, this could be the base for TFP(The Fiery Priest)S3 which can focus on the ML’s bitter past (family-related) which is subtly related but deeply wounded by the stigmata murderer’s last victim’s death. Also with 1 first two seasons of busting a corrupt governance by corrupt officials and taking on a dangerous drug cartel, S3 can start with TFP witnessing the stigmata murders repeated with Detective Cha trying to catch the killer on the run (is it Baek Sang Ho/ Copy Cat?). Sounds like a good Collab (series) to look forward to in the future.
