The Fiery Priest – K-drama Season 2 Episode 4 Recap & Review

Episode 4

Episode 4 of The Fiery Priest Season 2 begins with Hong-sik going over the ship factory. The new business model is to only make expensive drugs for the elite.

Meanwhile, Ja-yeong, Hae-il and Gu beat up the thugs. Fire Eel almost escapes but the trio catches him. He has been hurt from the crash and he begs them to take care of his mother before he dies.

As for the bad guys, Du-heon puts Fire Eel and Ja-yeong on the wanted list. A furious Hong-sik gives Boss Park one last chance and orders him to kill Fire Eel and bring him the priest and his stubborn companion. He makes final changes to his ship but it is hinted to be a fire hazard.

Back to the trio, they are upset by the developments. Ja-yeong’s squad is arrested, Fire Eel’s men have been freed and all the evidence is destroyed. She agrees to work with Hae-il and reveals when it all went down.

A flashback shows Du-heon stopping her squad mid-arrest of Sang-man’s crew. When they don’t listen, some thugs attack. Ja-yeong’s lead is the Presidential Secretary’s junkie daughter, and by letting her go, Du-heon is promoted to departmental chief.

At present, Hae-il meets Kyung-sun to get Ja-yeong off the wanted list. She also has news – there were two drug rings in Busan but they disappeared and a shady journalist announced that the city is drug-free. They realise that the new ghost ring destroyed them and has taken over.

Meanwhile, Gozhaev takes Gu and Ja-yeong to his super fancy house. Ja-yeong takes his bedroom while Gu orders him to make tea. They discuss how to lure the ghosts and decide to use Gozhaev as fake Fire Eel.

Hong-sik is seen apologising to Du-heon for messing up the Fire Eel situation and asks for help regarding customs. Du-heon agrees in exchange for his complete support.

Hae-il and Chae Do-u decide to make breakfast for Ms. Song, the old lady but see her being dragged away in a van. It cuts to all the elderly being taken to Hong-sik’s ship to make and pack drugs. While he is welcoming and promises to pay generously for the secrecy, Boss Park and his men are rude.

Onto Kyung-sun’s mission, she gets transferred to Du-heon’s shabby office. Her backstory is that she is a dirty, debt-ridden prosecutor who got caught taking bribes. She befriends Kim Ma-ri, the secretary and deletes Ja-yeong’s name from the wanted list. But Ma-ri is suspicious of her when she asks for the case file of Kim In-seok (the VIP druggie from episode 1).

Ja-yeong has warmed up to the Gudam crew but is annoyed when Gu realises that they are related and treats her like his niece.

Back on the ship, the fumes are too strong for Ms. Song but the thugs simply drag her away. Seeing her, Boss Park is reminded of Fire Eel’s comatose mom and decides to use her as collateral. At the same time, the Gudam crew is having a hard time trying to disguise Gozhaev as Fire Eel. The next plan of action is for Ja-yeong to text Sang-man’s phone for an exchange deal – 10 million won for Fire Eel.

While Du-heon wonders if Hong-sik can truly make him president, Ma-ri takes Kyung-sun to her lodgings. It is above a noisy bar and Kyung–sun swears at Hae-il for putting her in such a predicament. He is busy waiting for Ms. Song who is dumped in front of her house. He is enraged but she tells him to let it go. He has dinner with her but as he keeps asking about the “food factory”, he realises it is shady.

He tells Chae who wants to beat up the thugs. Hae-il counsels him to use other methods and use his temper as a last resort. This has Chae following Ms. Song’s van to the port. He is caught by the thugs guarding the ship and pretends to be a lost delivery boy. He informs Hae-il that he plans to report it should it turn out to be an illegal and unauthorized ship.

It is Sunday and Ja-yeong is introduced to Father Han and Sister Kim, and they hit it off. They are interrupted by Hong-sik who arrives dressed to the nines and has bodyguards. During the service, Hong-sik laughs at the sermon which is noticed by Hae-il. Later, he gives a 2 billion won donation as he wonders if offerings will get him into heaven. When Hae-il tries to give it back, he refuses and leaves.

As Hae-il regroups with the rest, Gu gets a call from his uncle. Ja-yeong is indeed related but in the capacity of an aunt. She is now delighted as she orders Gu to speak to her formally and keeps scolding him.

Hae-il then meets Kyung-sun who is annoyed that Du-heon still doesn’t trust her. The priest figures that Du-heon wants to be served, giving Kyung-sun an idea.

Onto the exchange – the photo proof of Fire Eel that Ja-yeong sends the ghosts was taken 3 days ago. Realising that something is off, Hong-sik tells his Laotian team to stay alert while ordering Boss Park to bring him Gu, Ja-yeong and Hae-il.

Boss Park and his subordinates arrive at the site with an ace up their sleeve – Fire Eel’s mom. However, the Gudam crew had already swept her to safety and the woman they have is a paid actor who walks off.

Not deterred, Boss Park signals his thugs who corner Gu, Ja-yeong and Hae-il. A hilarious fight ensues as Ja-yeong accidentally keeps smacking Gu and takes out her anger on the thugs for hurting her nephew. Cops from the Dohan station show up and arrest the ghosts and everything is wrapped up neatly.

Unfortunately, Hong-sik’s Laotian team crashes into the cars and beats up the cops. Park’s thugs escape before Hae-il can stop them. He gets dizzy for a second and a couple of Laotian thugs confront him. At the end of The Fiery Priest Season 2 Episode 4, Hong-sik is watching from nearby and is amused to see Hae-il.

The Episode Review

The Fiery Priest Season 2 Episode 4 is as hilarious as the previous episodes and we don’t think we can ever get tired of watching this K-drama. Every week it is unhinged antics after unhinged antics along with some actual plot and exciting conflict.

It is also inspiring to see the cast, even the ones in minor roles like that of Fire Eel or Boss Park committing to the shenanigans. Because let’s be honest, such a show would fail if any of them were afraid to really get into their characters with all the wild plot devices this show has. But so far, it has been a fun and wild ride. And this season has been equally promising and entertaining.

Onto the plot, there is a lot going on and it is only about to get more dangerous for our Gudam crew. The different subplots of Chae staking out the ship and Kyung-sun following Du-heon are exciting to watch. Especially, since we know it is all going to tie up with the main conflict of Hae-il taking down Hong-sik even though he doesn’t know that he is his target yet.
