The Fiery Priest – K-drama Season 2 Episode 11 Recap & Review

Episode 11

Episode 11 of The Fiery Priest Season 2 begins with Hae-il pointing the gun at his head. He doesn’t mind going to hell if it means saving Kyung-sun. But everyone is saved thanks to Father Han and Sister Kim who dress up as superheroes. Father Han has ended up with a sonic roar that easily breaks the contraption that Kyung-sun is tied to. Everyone is delighted while Hong-sik is furious and decides to flee.

A flashback shows how his backup plan is foiled. Songsak and Yo-han delay the geckos from checking the gas tank while the NIS replaces the poisonous gas with helium. Gozhaev then brings Songsak and Yo-han onboard, disguised as NASA officials. Yo-han uses his electric power to defuse the ship bomb.

Elsewhere, Ma-ri and Kyung-sun finally confront Du-heon who isn’t worried. Irritated by his cockiness, the women decide to raid his storage room that night. As for the good cops, they learn that Du-heon has called Interpol and will take credit for Hong-sik’s capture. Which means they need to catch Hong-sik first. But the good news is that Martha has appointed Ja-yeong as the Narcotics Division Leader and reinstated Capelin aka Detective Bing San-gu.

Hong-sik’s escape plan is further foiled as he sees that Boss Park has stolen all the money he had made in Busan. And on Du-heon’s order, he also puts a tracker on Hong-sik’s car. Not to be outdone, Gozhaev is hanging around Boss Park and hides a tracker among the stolen cash.

To cover his tracks, Du-heon also wants to kill the customs guys who have willingly turned themselves in thanks to Yo-han and Songsak. However, Chairman Kim suddenly orders him to bail them out due to a mutual acquaintance. Annoyed, this has Du-heon ordering Captain Lee to let them go. Of course, when the dirty cops go to the holding cell, Martha and some inspectors arrest them.

Meanwhile, Kyung-sun and Ma-ri raid the storage room with masks. But it is a bust as they see that he just uses the room to transfer the blackmail files to another place nearby. At the same time, Gozhaev bribes Boss Park into revealing Hong-sik’s location – Changrim Port.

The showdown begins – the good cops, Songsak, Yo-han, Chae, the seminary and even Dean Lee confront Boss Park and his gang. The gang is taken down after a fight but Boss Park runs away to the place where he had hidden the money. Of course, Gozhaev is waiting for him and beats him up.

At the port, Hong-sik is stopped by Interpol, Du-heon and Reporter Ki who livestreams everything. Gu, Hae-il and Kyung-sun show up and try to explain that Du-heon is an accomplice. They start bickering and the frustrated Interpol chief tries to shoot Hong-sik. In an accident, a broken airplane door suddenly falls and kills some of the geckos. Hong-sik and Du-heon escape separately.

The Gudam crew regroups at Gozhaev’s and celebrates the destruction of Boss Park’s gang. However, they need to figure out a plan for the remaining two.

Unfortunately, Du-heon is one step ahead as he uses his blackmail material and coerces all the officials to help him settle in Seoul. He is appointed as the head of the Special Drug Investigation Headquarters. Hae-il, Kyung-sun, Gu, Songsak, Yo-han, Father Han and Sister Kim decide to head back to Seoul.

The Polka Dot ghost mystery finally makes sense as Hae-il and Kyung-sun get the heebie-jeebies while packing up her place. They freak out when they hear a beeping noise in the wall. They break the wall and find Polka Dot’s corpse. She is also wearing a smartwatch which has an alarm. The Gudam crew believes divine intervention going on as Sang-yeon also wakes up from his coma.

Du-heon sees the news of Polka Dot’s body being recovered and is surprised. At the same time, Hong-sik buys a gun and looks at a family photo. His mother looks exactly like Kyung-sun.

Back in Seoul, Hae-il and Kyung-sun hold a press conference and indict Du-heon of bribery. They claim they have all his blackmail material and the media calls it the Honey Jar-gate. It cuts to the wall where Polka Dot’s body was found. At the end of The Fiery Priest Season 2 Episode 11, Gu, Hae-il and Kyung-sun look confident as they attend Day 1 of Du-heon’s hearing.

The Episode Review

The Fiery Priest Season 2 Episode 11 wraps up most of the mystery thankfully as we will have to wait for another week before the finale airs. The Polka Dot storyline is the one which we were most skeptical about but the writers come through.

We still don’t know if it is necessary but the K-drama gives enough explanation to back it up. It ties up with the spiritual and religious elements of the show while acting as a deus ex machina to catch Du-heon. If we are not wrong, her smartwatch very likely holds the transferred blackmail material.

Along with the action, the drama retains the comic aspects which we are glad for. Dean Lee joining the fight was hilarious and we knew Gozhaev would never betray the Gudam crew. Hae-il’s shocking dilemma of choosing Kyung-sun or his life is quickly resolved and gives Father Han his time to shine. The final stretch of Season 2 does lack an emotional factor but we are ready for the Gudam crew to take down Du-heon.
