Inari Sunset
The Demon Prince of Momochi House Episode 5 begins with Himari seeing a boy walking to the same school and approaching him. He warns her to stay away from him to avoid catching a curse.
In school, she overhears students talking about the boy and questions her friends about it. They tell her about the rumors surrounding him and how he once used to be an outgoing kid before he started to claim he lost a friend.
Himari also consults the teacher about this, and he informs her that he is from the Hidaka family, who had a responsibility to worship and take care of the ayakashi. She figures she can visit his house and find out more about her parents as the Momochi family is closely associated with them.
Arriving at the house, she finds a shrine, and before she can touch it, Hayato arrives. Himari asks him about her parents, but he is not aware of anything and asks her to leave. On her way back home, she sees a strange fox child who warns her to stay away from Hayato before disappearing.
Reaching home, she tells Aoi about him, and Aoi recognizes him. Aoi tells her that they used to be friends when he was in the human world, but entering the Momochi house had erased all memories of him. Later that night, Hayato has a sleepless night as he struggles to recollect who his friend is.
The next morning, Himari confronts Hayato about his long-lost friend. He shows her the charm and describes the friendship and incident but is unable to pinpoint who that was. He blames himself for sacrificing what meant the most to him to obtain a charm to gift his friend.
Later that day, Himari accompanies him to the shrine and lets out the fox spirit. She claims she is the only one who can see them and asks for forgiveness on Hayato’s behalf. The fox spirit forgives her, but just then the fox boy arrives and threatens her.
The Fox Boy arrives and begins to attack Himari. The Fox Spirit protects her until she manages to run. The Fox Boy follows her into the Momochi house where Aoi protects them from the Fox Boy. As the fox mask falls, Hayato realizes he is his childhood friend Aoi and requests to talk with him. Hayato apologizes for his actions and promises to do better. The fox spirit returns his friend to him, but he disappears after a hug.
Aoi explains that it was only a remnant as the fox spirit cannot take away a person forever. He then puts Hayato to sleep.
The next morning, Himari meets Hayato on the way, and he remembers nothing about Aoi. Himari realizes Aoi erased his memory at the end of The Demon Prince of Momochi House Episode 5.
The Episode Review
The Demon Prince of Momochi House Episode 5 has an intricate story that led to its unfolding. It delves into Aoi’s past through a close friend of his and dates back to the time Aoi entered the Momochi house. Previous episodes portrayed Aoi as the only one emotionally affected while being confined to the Momochi house, as everyone else lost their memories of him. In this episode, memories are certainly erased from Hayato’s mind, but he still has tangible items of significance that remind him of a severed relationship.
The episode delves much deeper, but we are limited by our understanding of how the spirit world works.
