The Continental Season 1 Episode 2
The Continental marks one of the first expansions of the John Wick cinematic universe by Paramount Pictures. The three-episode-long miniseries will serve as an introduction to the origins of Winston’s character as the owner of the Continental in New York City.
The show is set in the 70s and shows a young Winston making his mark as a member of the High Table. Colin Woodell will be portraying the protagonist. Mel Gibson also stars as Cormac, another new character.
The Continental will be set in the same cinematic universe as the John Wick films but will not feature too many familiar characters. The miniseries will have its own twist on historic world events from the 70s, including the rise of the Mafia as an economic force in the US.

What happened in Episode 1?
Episode 1 of The Continental introduces us to many new and old characters in the JW cinematic universe. The episode starts off in 1955 with the story of the Scott brothers, Frankie and Winston. They are apprehended by the police for a crime and each goes on their separate path in life after that. Frankie works for Cormac O’Connor, who owns The Continental in NYC in the ’70s.
Frankie abhors him and steals an ancient coin press from his vault on New Year’s Eve. This sparks an immediate response from Cormac and The High Table, who believe the artefact is critical to the organization’s sustenance.
Winston works as a businessman in London. However, he is brought back into Frankie’s mess by Cormac’s men. Two other important subplots also take shape in episode 1.
The first involves NYPD Detective KD, who wants to investigate The Continental but her superior, Det. Mayhew, discourages her. The second subplot involves brother-sister Lou and Miles, who run their father’s karate dojo in Chinatown. Miles also deals in illegal firearms but Lou wants him to abandon that business.
Frankie is on the run with his wife. Yen and Winston follow his trail to track him down. Cormac enlists the help of assassins Hansel and Gretel to bring back the press to him.
The episode ends with Frankie sacrificing himself to allow Winston and Yen to escape, who go to Miles and Lou for help.
