The Chosen One (2023) – Season 1 Episode 5 “Faith” Recap & Review

Faith

Episode 5 of The Chosen One begins with a flashback to when Jodie is younger. He causes a ruckus in his school, and then Sarah arrives to take him home. She confronts him on the way home and informs him that they must relocate yet again because he attracted attention to himself.

Jodie is currently reaping the benefits of his popularity. He is clearly the focus of everyone’s attention. But Magda is bothered by him receiving female attention. He then assures her that he will assist in finding her brother. But in the end, he manages to persuade her to join him and the other girls at the party. Even though Magda senses that something is off, she decides to go.

Later that day, Hipolito confronts Jodie about his behavior towards Magda. Following this, Jodie decides to abandon her and attend the party by himself in order to avoid further hurting her. He is seen getting close to a few girls at the party and when Magda appears, Jodie is dancing and flirting with a girl. She expresses her frustration towards him and walks away.

Since being raised from the dead, Angelo’s dad has grown numb. Carlos ultimately ends his life. He takes such a step given that he despises the dad he had turned into and the inability to care for his kids. In retaliation for his dad’s passing, Angelo attempts to murder Jodie, but the gun glitches and strikes Tuka instead who dies away right away.

Jodie ultimately enters the tunnel from his nightmares after succumbing to the seductive siren voice within his head. On entering the cave, the episode comes to a close.

The Episode Review

Episode 5 of The Chosen One occasionally has an eerie vibe, and at other points, it delves deeply into spirituality and faith. The majority of the time, though, it resembles a coming-of-age drama, though one in which the protagonist behaves like an adult.

What draws us to the Netflix series is the connection among the friends. Additionally, the bond that exists between Jodie and his mother, Sarah is noteworthy as well. It will be interesting to see how things play out given that the finale is just one episode away.
