Episode 9
Our ‘The Auditors’ episode 9 recap and review begins with Seo-jin and Dae-woong’s pictures being uploaded regarding the nepotism case at JU Construction. President Se-woong orders Cha-il to pursue a thorough audit of Seo-jin’s case, hoping to find dirt on Dae-woong and remove him from the company.
In an interview with Cha-il, we find that Dae-woong is not Seo-jin’s blood relative. He considers her mother a sister since she took care of him while working as a housekeeper at Dae-woong’s family’s house. Seo-jin also reiterates that she had passed the test solely on her ability. While she’s demonized in the office, Han-soo expresses his belief in her.
After a thorough check into Seo-jin’s case, Shin Cha-il informs the president of no foul play. But since the president wants Dae-woong out of the company, he removes Cha-il from the case, citing his inability to investigate his team members, and initiates an external audit. Meanwhile, Dae-woong decides to take matters into his own hands and help Shin Cha-il with the case to clear Seo-jin’s name.
Elsewhere, Dae-woong privately asks Han-soo to investigate the IP address of the person who uploaded the post about him and Seo-jin. The audit team soon realizes that the company in charge of the external audit is ruthless, leaving no stone unturned. Never backing down from a case, Shin Cha-il and the audit team decide to investigate as well by reviewing four years’ worth of hiring processes and associated files hidden in the archives, suspecting that Seo-jin’s case is a distraction from the unfair employment case.
The audit team begins their search as the external audit starts on Seo-jin’s case. During the external audit, the person-in-charge, Seo Hee Jin, comes across a report from a fellow employee, Jung Hye-Young, claiming that Seo-jin met with Vice President Dae-woong during the interview process and might have acquired questions in advance. Seo-jin vehemently denies this report, citing no foul play.
Meanwhile, Shin Cha-il acknowledges that the imprisoned Director Seo from the initial episodes was in charge of the hiring process and might have influenced the outcome. He meets with a former employee to question him on why he moved the hiring documents to the archives.
When he refuses to answer, Dae-woong appears and forces him to admit that he tampered with the report card of an employee on Director Seo’s orders but doesn’t know who the employee is. Later, Shin Cha-il and Dae-woong conclude that if they tally the marks of the online test with the numbers fed into the document, they would identify the employee.
Han-soo and Assistant Manager Moon Sang-Ho are tasked with retrieving the documents from the archives when they’re attacked by unknown men. Fortunately, Cha-il and Dae-woong catch one of the perpetrators along with the documents. They find the person who ordered the attack is called CEO Jeong and assume it’s an acquaintance of Director Seo. However, while returning, Moon Sang-Ho claims to be attacked by thugs and loses the documents.
The next day, through Dae-woong’s investigation, they find that CEO Jeong is a famous moneylender and an associate of Director Seo. He’s also the father of Assistant Manager Jeong Hye-Young. She is promptly asked for an interview with Cha-il but repeatedly denies any foul play.
Later that day, Seo-jin decides to look through the CCTV footage near her house to identify who captured her pictures. Meanwhile, Han-soo meets with his friend, whose company owns the site. His friend gives him a tip regarding the case, and Han-soo traces the IP address to a surprising location. This is when the episode ends.
The Episode Review
This episode has been quite a ride with a good amount of drama, suspense, and action. Assistant Manager Jeong has finally been caught in the loop of the audits, and we already knew she got through with nepotism, but why is Assistant Manager Moon acting suspiciously?
In this episode, we also find Dae-woong working with Shin Cha-il for Seo-jin’s sake, and we cannot help but cheer for them. We also realize that Dae-woong might not be as evil as we thought, and Se-woong not as good either. There’s definitely something up with the president, but we don’t know the details yet.
‘The Auditors’ has been exciting so far, mostly because of how intricately the plot is structured with many unexpected plot twists that keep us hooked. With this, we end our ‘The Auditors’ episode 9 recap and review. We will meet you in the next one!
