The Accident (2024) – Season 1 Episode 9 Recap & Review

Episode 9

Episode 9 of The Accident begins with Emiliano fighting with Peyote and pushing his gun away. Alex picks up the gun and shoots Peyote in the leg while Emiliano rushes Lucia to the hospital. She is in a critical state and the Lobos are distraught. Alex tries to see Lucia but they believe he is to blame and kick him out.

After Paula’s interview, she and Roxana head out but they are mobbed. Paula experiences PTSD from the screaming till Fabian shows up and takes her away. At home, he is upset as he calls out Roxana for using their daughter for the fame she could never achieve. She doesn’t deny it and they start fighting. Paula begs them to stop and Roxana blames Fabian for getting angry.

Yola calls Carla who is still in the hospital and reminds her that she has yet to pay her for the interview. Carla requests her for some time and Yola shares that Ulises is ready to make a deal. And if Carla doesn’t pay her, Yola will tell him that it was David who forced Moncho to take the deal.

She also suggests that David may have killed her husband which shocks Carla. She is discharged from the hospital and as she heads home, David is sweet to her. But Carla gives him the cold shoulder and focuses on finishing up Yola’s exclusive.

A limping Peyote shows up at the hospital and is about to shoot Daniela but she is quicker and kills him. The Lobos are in shock which doesn’t help when Ulises arrives as well. He tries to help but Emiliano makes him leave.

Peyote’s phone rings and Daniela picks it up only to hear Charro asking if he’s succeeded. She tells him that she has killed Peyote and he is furious. His lawyer tries to come up with a plan but Charro is so furious, he wants the Lobos to pay.

Meanwhile, Brenda confronts Javier about helping Emiliano. He reiterates that it is to save their family that he needs to resolve Emiliano’s situation. She then says they are even as she has slept with Mauricio to save Javier from trying to have a child with her. He is hurt and believes that their marriage is over. She declares that she still loves him but a marriage needs more such as empathy and sacrifice.

Overwhelmed by everything, Brenda books a counselling session with Fabian. As they catch up, she reveals that she is surprised that Paula is on social media. He is confused and angry as she shows him Paula’s videos. He rushes to the bedroom and sees that Roxana has now set up online interviews while Paula looks uncomfortable. He shuts down the laptop and kicks Roxana out.

That night, Daniela and Emiliano sit beside a comatose Lucia. Daniela cries as she feels she has failed as a mother as she couldn’t see that her daughter was struggling enough to use drugs. Emiliano comforts her and warns her not to be consumed by guilt like him. She thanks him for saving Lucia and they hug. Once they are asleep, Alex sneaks in and begs Lucia to wake up as he has no one left but her.

Meanwhile, Charro rants to David that Emiliano better control Daniela or he will ruin the deal by telling the investors everything. David is frantic and ends up telling Carla who is shocked. She calls Daniela to ask about Peyote but her sister thinks she wants a scoop. They fight as Carla points out that she has been worried and she too has been stressed as she almost had a miscarriage.

Daniela’s worries evaporate when Carla cuts to the chase as she called to give her a heads-up – she will be publishing Yola’s expose which reveals that Emiliano bribed Moncho to take the fall. Daniela begs her not to do so but when Carla insists that justice needs to be served, Daniela hangs up.

Barroso calls the person who hired him but the phone is available. He then shows up in Santa Cruz and sends the person a photo of the police station. He states that if the person doesn’t meet him, he will tell the cops everything.

Lucia finally wakes up and the Lobos are ecstatic. However, they refuse when she asks to see Alex, citing that he is a bad influence. She insists that he is innocent and she has been taking drugs way before Alex moved to town. This has Daniela tearing up and Lucia apologises for everything.

Charro calls David and Javier over to show that he has got the land permit which they were unable to get for so long. We also see that Ulises is in his pocket. In exchange, David and Javier need to sign a new contract which completely cuts out Emiliano.

The lawyers are against it but Charro reveals that Carla’s expose has been published. They need to act fast as the investors will now know that Emiliano not only killed 3 kids but also bribed someone who ended up dead. Javier is against it but David convinces him for the sake of the deal.

The Lobos return home with Lucia insisting that Emiliano should move back in. But their happiness is short-lived as they too finally see Carla’s expose.

At the end of The Accident Episode 9, Lupita meets Barroso at Gabito’s grave. He says he wants more money or he will tell everyone that she hired him to kill Moncho.

The Episode Review

The Accident Episode 9 takes on an emotional turn with Lucia’s hospitalization and Daniela and Emiliano finally patching up. It is still sad that they kick out Alex who has no one and refuse to believe that he is innocent. Peyote though, why did he think he would be able to kill a cop who is already jittery and armed? Bad move, buddy.

But for once, it is not Charro who ruins things for everyone but Carla. Was she ever supposed to be likeable or garner any sympathy? Cause so far all she does is step over everyone for her 15 minutes of fame. We would have believed that she wanted justice had it not been for her lying and using a child for her own gain. She really is not the badass she thinks she is.

But you know who is? Lupita! Phew, no one saw that plot twist coming one bit. She really is like a sleeper agent, huh? Just lying and biding her time. I mean sure, we wish she hadn’t killed Moncho who is innocent. But we can’t wait to see her take down Barroso and Charro.
