The Accident (2024) – Season 1 Episode 8 Recap & Review

Episode 8

Episode 8 of The Accident begins with Lucia and Alex on a bus once they throw their phones. A kid smiles at them and Alex recalls telling Gabito he was in love with Lucia. Gabito was in love too but Alex remarks that he will never know now since Emiliano killed him. Lucia defends him and they bicker.

At home, Emiliano is upset on seeing Ulises who wonders why he changed his mind. He points out that everyone is anyway looking for Lucia and Emiliano seethes at his cockiness. He almost kicks out Ulises who tells Daniela that he is still there for her.

As for the contract, Charro claims that he has men in every sector and can easily get all the permits. The American investors worry about Emiliano’s case and Javier claims he is free which solidifies the deal. Charro, of course, is not happy and claims he will destroy Emiliano once the deal is over.

Fabian and Roxana’s reunion is anything but happy as she too believes in Paula’s miracle. Paula is delighted to see her mother and says their family is back together because of the Virgin Mary. Seeing that his daughter is happy, Fabian gives them space.

Roxana also goes out and talks to the worshippers who ask Paula to heal their sick. Roxana tells Paula that she is a miracle and there are tons of people who believe her, unlike her father. This makes Paula happy and Roxana quickly sets up an interview with a local channel.

Fabian finds out that they are missing only to see them on TV. He is upset as he sees the interviewer asking Paula about the accident. Paula gets scared and Roxana goes on about Fabian being an unbeliever.

Ulises is angry that Emiliano has been let out and declares that he will do whatever he can to make the man pay. He visits Yola and questions her about Moncho’s murder. She shares that she has no knowledge about her husband’s death but he has an idea. He suggests that she should tell the police that Emiliano threatened to kill Moncho which should be enough to convict him as Moncho’s killer.

Alone, Yola calls and tells Emiliano about Ulises’ meeting. If he doesn’t expedite her US papers, she might very well do as Ulises says, leaving Emiliano frustrated as he is in the middle of searching for Lucia. Elsewhere Barroso watches the news about Moncho and Emiliano. He tells someone he wants more money or he will go to the cops.

Meanwhile, Peyote keeps an eye on Carla till Charro calls him away. David tries to fix things but Carla connects the dots and is furious with him for sleeping with Lupita. She suddenly starts bleeding and has to be rushed to the hospital. The doctors state that she is fine but trauma can cause a miscarriage and she blames David.

As for the Lobos’, they rip apart their house to find a clue on Lucia’s whereabouts. They find her passport missing and some drugs in her room. Daniela is shocked and believes Alex is responsible. The couple heads to Charro’s and blames him for everything but Lupita insists that Alex is innocent. With the drugs being a dead-end, they request Charro to look for the kids as well and he gives in. However, once they leave, he tells Peyote to bring back Alex and kill Lucia.

Lupita overhears and begs David to help since Lucia is his nephew. However, David is more interested in saving his hide and doesn’t want to be connected to Lupita anymore. She is upset that he used her and discarded her and he promises to ask around.

Meanwhile, Lucia and Alex’s bus reaches one of the checkpoints and the cops recognise them. They are detained and the kids try to run. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work. Alex also tries to bribe one of the cops but fails.

The Lobos are informed and so does Peyote learn from his contacts. All 3 head to the spot and find no one there as Alex has successfully bribed another cop. Lucia and Alex have a headway start but the Lobos and Peyote are not far behind.

Elsewhere, Brenda is touched that Javier has re-pieced Mateo’s puzzle. He apologises for everything and shares that while it is impossible to reverse his vasectomy, he is going to try. And if it doesn’t work, he is open to other avenues for having children.

Brenda tears up and then heads to Mauricio to tell him that they have made a mistake. She wants to take a morning-after pill but he points out that Javier still doesn’t get her. She learns that Emiliano has been let out on bail and Javier was the one who set it up. She is upset as she throws aside the morning-after pill.

As for the kids, they enter a town and Lucia suggests taking a break in a club as they are hungry. Alex is not happy as she starts drinking and dancing. He tries to stop her and she mocks him for acting like her dad. In the washroom, a girl offers her some drugs and she takes them. However, the bartender recognises them from the Amber Alerts and calls Peyote.

Emiliano arrives as well and spots Alex. He gets rough with him but Peyote doesn’t interfere. Emiliano then rushes to the washroom and sees that Lucia has passed out. At the end of The Accident Episode 8, he calls Daniela to call an ambulance but Peyote points a gun to his head.

The Episode Review

The Accident Episode 8 feels absolutely silly and unnecessary with all the conflict that happens pertaining to this chapter. The kids are on the run and somehow Lucia has the smart idea of drink, drugs and dance…? Especially since she knows that Charro is out to kill her. Great strategy, Lucia.

And I guess, like parents, like daughter because why did Emiliano and Daniela decide to loop in Charro? What on Earth can he do that the cops cannot do? And sure, they don’t know that Charro tried to kill Lucia, but they do know that he threatened her. So, why would they clue him in and ask for his help? Similarly, why does Lupita think David, a small-time lawyer have any idea where the kids are?

All the adults have lost their brain cells except Yola. She is the only one who has her priorities set. Honestly, she should take her US papers and then betray Emiliano anyway by reporting him as Moncho’s murderer for causing her family so much pain.
