The Accident (2024) – Season 1 Episode 4 Recap & Review

Episode 4

Episode 4 of The Accident begins with Daniela being shocked by Emiliano’s confession and believing that along with the kids, Moncho’s death is on him. She goes through a rollercoaster of emotions as she calls him a coward and believes she should arrest him. He promises to turn himself in and she adds that their marriage is also over.

Then there’s David who tries to find out from Carla if Emiliano has told Daniela but he doesn’t learn anything. At the same time, Javier tries to deter Brenda from getting another kid and lets it slip he got a vasectomy a year before their marriage. She is furious as he let her take birth control pills for years.

After a visit to a fertility clinic, she stops by Mauricio’s bar who understands her pain. They reminisce about their failed marriage and how they had wanted kids. He offers to be the father and she is amused.

As for the time bomb of a couple, Lupita sets up a shrine for Gabito at home. She also wants to cremate him and bring his ashes home but Charro refuses. He declares that while his son is irreplaceable, she is very much replaceable. He then tells Alex to knock some sense into her or Charro will put her in a mental asylum.

Paula wants to visit Rodri’s grave but Fabian can’t let her out as the media has surrounded their house. When he is busy on a call, Paula opens the door and on seeing Carla questioning her, she claims that the Virgin Mary spoke to her. The clamour increases with sick people asking Paula to bless them and heal them. Fabian rushes over, and after reprimanding Carla, he shuts the door.

Fonseca wants to help Yola as he asks her about Moncho’s enemies. She claims that since they are poor, no one will actually resolve their case while the rich will bribe the cops to bury the truth. Hitting a dead-end on his own, he brings Daniela over for the drugs case and they set up a stakeout.

However, the very same house they are watching is the one where Salome has dragged Lucia. And the drug dealer happens to be none other than Nico. Lucia is uncomfortable and texts Alex to pick her up.

David checks up on Emiliano who is cracking as he shares the latest developments and decides to turn himself in. A frantic David begs and threatens him till he convinces Emiliano that Daniela will come around and he should not have to suffer for an accident. 

It doesn’t last long as Emiliano completely crumbles into pieces before a meeting with the investors and Javier. Javier learns the truth and is furious about the deaths and also conflicted about how to go ahead with the contract. Emiliano tries to back out of the deal but the investors refuse.

They share that their deal is with Emiliano and if he wants to back out, he will have to pay back the 5 million + 2.5 million that is in their compensation clause. Once they leave, Javier also reminds Emiliano that the contract also has a morality clause and should they find out about the deaths, everyone involved will be ruined.

Meanwhile, Santo gets a court order and taps Charro and Emiliano’s phones. He, of course, catches the interaction between Charro and Horacio and brings both of them in. But Horacio was on leave of the actual murder and Charro’s lawyer is confident that he can have the case dropped with only circumstantial evidence.

As for the stakeout, an impatient Daniela decides to barge in without backup. Alex arrives just then and quickly texts Lucia. Everyone scatters and Daniela shoots a couple of them. Lucia gets into Alex’s car but Daniela thinks they are the dealers and chases after them. To escape trouble, Lucia jumps out of the car and Daniela catches Alex alone.

Meanwhile, David visits Lupita at the grave under the guise of bringing his childhood storybook for Gabito. He again goes on about treating her right and kisses her. They hook up but Lupita instantly regrets it as she is scared of Charro.

While having a shower at home, Charro arrives and tries to make a move on her but she pushes him away. Annoyed, he is about to leave when he notices David’s book among her discarded clothes. As for Lupita, she gets a call from Alex in jail.

Emiliano is busy setting up a home for Yola and talking to the US embassy but she is not satisfied as she continues to threaten him. With the fear of the investors finding out, he finally snaps and tells her to toe the line otherwise both of them will go down.

Similarly, Daniela is still shaken by her husband’s confession and tells Fabian everything. He tries to counsel her by asking her if she really wants to arrest Emiliano and she looks hesitant.

At the end of The Accident Episode 4, Charro kidnaps and beats up David. He is about to shoot him when David tells him about Emiliano being responsible for the bouncy house.

The Episode Review

We’ll be honest, we had no expectations with this Netflix show but somehow it is checking all the right boxes with its rising suspense and plot twists. The Accident Episode 4 has not 1, not 2 but almost everyone finding out the truth. Well, except for those that matter like Brenda, Lupita and Santos. 

And sure, there is the whole doctor-patient confidentiality with Fabian that stops him from reporting Emiliano. But we do wonder what David would have done had he known that the investors will make him go bankrupt if Emiliano is out of the picture. Sure, Daniela, Carla, David and Javier may protect him.

But Mr. Loose Cannon aka Charro is the last person who should know Emiliano is responsible. Especially since he is not even part of the 40-million contract which means he has nothing to lose.
