Terrifier 2 Plot Summary
Art the Clown returns in Terrifier 2 and this time, he has targeted high schooler Sienna and her younger sibling Jonathan. As the movie unfolds, the evil clown kills several of the people close to the two teens, including their mother and some of their friends.
At the end of Terrifier 2, Sienna regains possession of a sword that her father once gave her and cuts off Art’s head. It could be assumed that Art’s reign of terror is now over. After all, if he doesn’t have a head, he must be dead, right?
Let’s take a closer look at this violent horror movie:
Who is Art the Clown?
Art the Clown doesn’t have a lot of backstory but it’s clear in Terrifier 2 that he isn’t quite human. At the end of Terrfier, Art put a gun to his mouth and killed himself after being cornered by the police. He was then resurrected by some kind of evil entity while lying in the morgue.
Was Art human before this happened? Or was he already some kind of demon?
It’s difficult to say but one thing is for sure, he doesn’t have a shred of humanity left in him judging by his tendency to murder his victims in the most gruesome ways possible during the events of this horror sequel.
Why does Art target Sienna and Jonathan?
Sienna and Jonathan are both grieving the death of their father. They seem to be regular teenagers but early in the movie, Sienna has a nightmare that causes a fire to ignite in her bedroom. Does this mean that she has supernatural abilities? It’s possible and it’s likely that her father may have had abilities too. In the months preceding his death, he sketched portraits of Art after having visions of the demonic clown. He also sketched portraits of Sienna as a warrior figure with angel wings.
Before his death, he gifted Sienna a special sword that we later discover has mystical powers. This sword was used by Sienna in the dream wherein she deflected Art’s flamethrower and caused a fire to ignite in her reality.
Did Art target the teens because of a supernatural connection to their father? We aren’t given a definitive answer but it might be that he knew Sienna possessed a sword that had the power to defeat him. If this is the case, you would think he would steer clear of the siblings.
But regardless, we can be sure the father knew of Art’s existence and the threat the clown posed to his children. This is why he drew pictures of his daughter as a warrior and it’s why he gave her a sword as he was preparing her for the battles that lay ahead.
What happens during the final battle between Art and Sienna?
The final duel takes place at a horror-themed amusement park. Both Sienna and Jonathan suffer terrible injuries at the hands of the sadistic clown and at one point, it would appear that Sienna is close to death. After gaining control of her sword, Art stabs Sienna and she falls through a hole in the ground which leads to a water tank, similar to one that was previously seen in her dream.
Something holds Sienna down in the water but before she drowns, she breaks free from whatever is gripping her. She returns to the amusement park where the cannibal clown is trying to eat her brother. After reclaiming the sword, which glows and miraculously heals her, she rushes towards Art and decapitates him.
Is Art the Clown dead?
It could be assumed that Art is now dead but if you stick around for the mid-credits sequence, you will see him make his return in the most bizarre way possible!
During the scene, we are re-introduced to Victoria Heyes, one of the women that Art targeted in the first film. She survived his attacks but was mentally scarred by her encounters with him.
We see that Victoria is now in a mental hospital. When she is alone in her room, her stomach begins to grow. Eventually, she gives birth to Art’s head and her eyes start to glow yellow.
These glowing eyes are an indicator that Victoria has been possessed by the same demonic force that controls Art and the clown girl that makes an appearance at several points during the movie. It’s this possession that has given her the ability to bring Art back to life.
It can be assumed that Art’s body grew back after the events of the film. If there is a Terrifier 3, we will likely see his regeneration and perhaps learn more about his connection to Sienna and her father. We might also see the clown terrorize the two teens again. If this is the case, Sienna might need to kill Victoria, as she seems to be Art’s entryway back into the world after being beheaded.
