TenPuru: No One Can Live On Loneliness – Season 1 Episode 9 Recap & Review

Jealousy

Episode 9 of TenPuru begins with Akemitsu practising some tokudo with Yuzuki, Mia, and Tsukuyo. Their education is brimming with sexual innuendos and graphic moments. Later that night, Akemitsu prepares dinner for the temple girls. Kiki-san, on the other hand, does not show up for dinner. Following this, Akemitsu searches for her and, upon finding her, serves her food.

She tells Akemitsu during dinner that she will leave the temple once Yuzuki becomes the head priest. She then asks Akemitsu if he wants to stay behind or accompany her. While Akemitsu is thinking, Kiki-san begins to seduce him as she is drunk. Following this, Akemitsu walks away, embarrassed.

On New Year’s, the girls and Akemitsu visit a shrine. Here, Akemitsu is haunted by the orders Kagura gave him in the previous episode, wherein she asked him to leave the temple in exchange for her waiving all of his and the temple’s debts. Although her offer is appealing, Akemitsu declines it because he wants to always be available for Yuzuki.

Soon later, Akemitsu notices that Kagura genuinely cares for Mia. Initially, Kagura dismisses it, believing that she only wants Mia to become a promiscuous girl to follow in her family’s footsteps. However, by the end of the episode, Kagura discovers that she most likely adores Mia when Mia hugs and praises her in front of everyone.

The Episode Review

Episode 9 of TenPuru features the annual Mikazuki temple custom of mochi pounding. While processing the significance of the constant pounding at the sacred site, a few of them get flushed and restless.

There isn’t much to like about this episode. There isn’t much left for viewers to look forward to with each new episode, so watching the show has become a chore. The anime is shallow and focuses way too much on sexual tension, which quickly becomes monotonous. The show’s humour has also stagnated, which is a major flaw.
