Technoboys (2024) Ending Explained – Do Mel and Alan get back together?

Technoboys Plot Summary

The film takes place in an alternate-present timeline where a boy band called Technoboys have taken the world by storm. Unfortunately, the lead singer, Alan, goes completely off the rails after making a big scene at fellow pop-star Melena’s wedding, causing Technoboys to fade into obscurity.

The Spicy Roots take their place as the number 1 boy band in the country but Alan is not about to roll over and let this slide. He clings to the dream of getting back to the top of the podium with the gang, and he gets his chance when Masiosare, Mel’s husband and manager, relinquishes rights to the Technoboys name years later. Alan snaps it up, and the comeback tour is on!

As the film progresses, Alan comes to realize that we all grow and evolve over time, and the band he once knew are in very different places now. His journey of acceptance intertwines around a “whodunit” toward the end of the story, while there’s also a couple of scandals to sort out on the way there.

How does Mel and Alan’s rivalry escalate?

After joinign the band as a new member after Leo literally disappears, Jay admits that he has a video of Mel and Alan from back in the day. This is from when they were sexually charged up on stage and shows Mel embracing her true heritage, not adopting the “voice of the oppressed” persona like she currently is.

Jay becomes obsessed with Alan and after showing him the video, Alan arrogantly gloats to Mel about this. However, that night Alan is involved in a car accident; a hit and run where Juan and Mel are hit.

Who was responsible for the leaked tape and the hit and run?

As we soon find out through an epiphany, it turns out Masiosare is the one who kept the video as collateral and actually shared it around on the deep web. Mel is actually having an affair with Juan, the leader of the other pop group, and Masiosare was well ware of this.

Killing two birds with one stone, he hired Jay to be part of the Technoboys as his inside guy. He was goaded into trying to kill Mel and Juan, in exchange for a promising pop career. He was duped by Masiosare, who left him out to dry and caused him to be arrested. However, he’s also told to speak on camera and incriminate Alan, which he initially does.

How does the truth come out?

Leo returns out of nowhere and decides they all need to conduct an awakening. With drugs passed around, the gang all hallucinate and vomit, then have their awakening. Everybody is forgiven; Mel, Juan and Alan all patch up their differences. They also all send a video message over to Jay, telling him they all know he was manipulated and that they stand by his side.

On TV, Jay admits that Masiosare is the real crook here. He intentionally released the Technoboys name, knowing that Alan would snap it up and get the gang back together. Masiosare wanted Mel and Juan out the picture, so he contacted Jay and had him crash into Juan’s car.

Do Mel and Alan get back together? What happens to Masiosare?

Masiosare evades the police and decides to ride off a cliff to his doom. Presumably anyway, the screen fades to white before we see the result of this. Meanwhile, the reunion tour goes ahead. The Technoboys (and Mel for some reason) get on stage, do their big song and it has everyone cheering them. There’s a prolonged look from Alan toward Mel while they’re on stage though… and then the film ends.

So Mel and Alan don’t get back together, but there is a hint that Alan still loves Mel and was just putting an act on to get her by his side. Either way, it’s a happy (but rushed) ending all round.
