The Anime
Episode 3 of Teasing Master Takagi-san begins with Nishikata yawning in class and Takagi teasing him for staying up all night to watch Hyaku Kata, a romantic anime. He tries to refute it but the teacher catches them bickering and punishes them by making them library receptionists during lunch break.
At the library, Takagi suggests they should pick books for each other and Nishikata is pleasantly surprised that she chose the dinosaur encyclopaedia that he likes. He picks a romantic novel for her offhandedly but hopes it is actually good and keeps staring while she reads. She suddenly professes her love to him and he seems disappointed when she claims she is just reading a passage from the book.
While leaving, she comments that she won’t recommend the romantic novel to him and he seems disappointed that the book may not have been good enough. She says that’s not it and we realise that she made up the love confession and if he reads the book he will find out.
At home, he decides to do push-ups for every time she has teased him in the day and he ends up doing 60. He then watches Hyaku Kata and seems to be a huge fan.
On the weekend, he buys its latest volume and sings the intro while leaving. He runs into Takagi and she starts teasing him for singing the wrong chorus. They sit by the waterfront and she offers to play the song on her phone. He is shy about sharing earphones and keeps getting distracted by how close she is.
She turns out to be right about the lyrics and he is surprised that she hasn’t teased him for it. She says she just wanted to hear the song with him and he is touched. She ends up teasing him anyway by taking out the earphones and chasing him. At the end of Teasing Master Takagi-san Episode 3, both of them sing the song while they are in their own homes.
The Episode Review
Teasing Master Takagi-san Episode 3 continues to be super adorable and wholesome. Nishikata continues to be oblivious to not only Takagi’s crush on him but also his own feelings for her. And even then, their friendship is super adorable as we get several sincere moments between the pranks. It seems that Takagi orchestrates the pranks to cover up for those moments as she not only gets a kick out of teasing Nishikata but so that she can hide her feelings.
Well, she doesn’t have to try too hard since Nishikata has no clue that she likes him. Our only complaint is that it has a weekly release which can make it hard to want to tune in every week. The show could probably fare better if it was released all at once as it happens to be the perfect bite-sized weekend binge-watch after a busy week.
