Episode 2 Recap

The recap of Sweet Home Season 3 Episode 2 begins with Yi-kyung waking up and observing that her missing eye is back. She cuts her arm but she doesn’t heal. Eun-yu explains that Hyun-su made her human again. However, he has been asleep ever since. Yi-kyung is thankful but readies herself to go after Mystery Girl.

She shares that Mystery Girl doesn’t trust humans so she will keep turning them. Yi-kyung knows she will go back to the stadium, and since it is her fault she knows of the location, she wants to stop Mystery Girl. Eun-yu wishes her luck and stays back for Hyun-su while wondering about her brother. 

Outside, Ho-sung is still unconscious. Chan-young worries about him and Ha-ni is offended that he doesn’t trust her. In a flashback, we see that Ho-sung saves her by killing her monster parents. She is furious as she threatens to kill him when he turns. He gives her some food and tells her to promise it.

Ho-sung finally wakes up but is upset. He doesn’t understand why Ha-ni hangs out with monster sympathisers and warns her not to turn like her parents. This enrages her as she cuffs him to the trailer and declares that monsters can be saved. Which means they have been killing people for no reason. She storms off and Chan-young comforts her. However, she is sure that Ho-sung will come around.

As for the Bamseom MHs and Lim, they take one of Kim’s cars and head to the stadium. Ja-yeong is in pain and the guy MH, Jae-jin doesn’t trust her. Sang-won tells Lim that he has a child. While Yi-kyung had passed out before her labour, he gave her a gift with which he can feel his child.

At that moment, his face and Mystery Girl’s arm blackens as she enters the stadium. Sang-won randomly kills a monster cocoon because he can and they find a human, Cheol-jong hiding nearby. He joins them and talks about his observations on how monsters don’t harm the cocoons. He notices Sang-won’s monster arm and tries to leave but they don’t let him.

At the stadium, Tak’s men finally find the basement and save Ye-seul. They tie up Chief Ji and try to interrogate her. A flashback shows her family heading to the centre. But her son, Hyeon-u shows symptoms and she locks him up in the stadium basement. Every time Tak kicks out an infectee, she lures them to the basement.

Tak reasons that she is waiting for a cure but points out there is none and that is why he killed his own infected son. On hearing that he will kill her son too, she tries to kill herself. However, Ye-seul stops her as she refuses to Ji take the coward’s way out.

Meanwhile, Mystery Girl blends in with the Stadium Survivors and watches Yeong-su being bullied. He threatens to turn and kill his bullies and she tries to turn him. But Ye-seul shows up and takes them both to Jin-ok. Mystery Girl watches as Jin-ok begrudgingly dotes on the boy. At that moment, Lim and the Bamseom MHs show up. Sang-won breaks the entrance and easily takes down the soldiers.

He declares that he simply wants his child and orders Tak to round up the kids. Chi-seong nurses the wounded soldiers and announces that whoever has symptoms is blessed as they are on their way to becoming neo-humans. Yeong-su watches as Mystery Girl tries to discern why she can hear Sang-won in her head. The soldiers beg Lim for an update on Kim’s squad and we see a flashback to 12 hours ago.

Lim finds an injured Seok-chan and Kim and declares only one can be saved. Seok-chan gives Kim Ji-na’s medicine and asks him to save Yong-seok and the other humans in Bamseom. Lim sets up a transfusion from Seok-chan to Kim and leaves. At present, Kim finally recovers but he sees that Seok-chan is on death’s door.

We also see Lim’s purpose for tagging along. He has the special medicine to turn infectees into MH. He can share it with Tak but it is tough to retrieve.

As for our street squad, Ha-ni runs into the trailer for her special leaves and we see that she is addicted. Ho-sung thinks she has turned but it is he who has turned. After she leaves, he breaks out and hallucinates people telling him to kill everyone. Ha-ni finds him trying to kill himself in a car and rushes to Hyun-su in hopes of saving Ho-sung. 

An asleep Hyun-su’s wing attacks her but Eun-yu takes the responsibility to wake him. Ha-ni and Chan-young rush back out where Ho-sung begs her to kill him. She cannot and he crashes his car. As he dies in the explosion, it attracts a monster that attacks Ha-ni.

Chan-young tries to save her while inside, Eun-yu begs Hyun-su to wake up. He finally does, but his eyes are blue and it is Monster Hyun-su. He kills the monster since it is too noisy and then chokes Chan-young. And with that, the recap of Sweet Home Season 3 Episode 2 ends.

The Episode Review

Following that recap, we now have to review this episode. But first things first, has Choi been hanging in the ceiling for the whole time? Poor guy. At least Kim got the medicine for Ji-na, the catalyst for the whole Bamseom angle. And woah, Sweet Home Season 3 really killed off half the characters in episode 2 itself. We don’t even know if Ha-ni will make it. Ho-sung is gone for sure. So are most of Kim’s men. 

But everything is starting to make sense. We finally understand why Chief Ji was distraught over the death of that infected old lady. She wanted to feed her to her son. We also see why Lim has been lugging around that suitcase with the cocoon shell. It makes sense that while it can help monsters evolve into MH, it can also be used by Lim to turn special infectees into MH.
