Resurrection of the Bodies
In the opening of Supersex episode 6, Rocco returns to Ortona to visit his mother, who is now old and frail. It’s evident that Carmela is seriously ill, as she coughs up blood at least twice a day. With financial worries no longer a concern, Rocco admits his mother to a good hospital to ensure she receives the best care possible.
Despite his brothers’ displeasure at his return, Rocco has made up his mind to stay and care for his mother. Now a renowned international star, Rocco is a familiar face in Ortona, where he is recognized by everyone from children to teenagers to old friends. He has become particularly popular among the town’s girls, who vie for his attention in the hopes of boasting about spending a night with him.
Rocco tries to persuade Tommy to return to Ortona so their mother, Carmela, can see him one last time before she passes. However, Tommy adamantly refuses, stating that Carmela is not his mother and he feels no attachment to her. Despite this initial refusal, Tommy has a change of heart and decides to return to Ortona. He even purchases Alfredo’s cafe, which shows his intention to stay.
However, soon, it becomes clear that Tommy still has no intention of seeing Carmela. Tragically, Carmela passes away with only Rocco by her side. Tommy does not attend her funeral, choosing instead to watch from a distance as her casket is lowered into the ground. It is possible that Tommy’s absence stems from shame over his treatment of Carmela. We also see that Tommy has even named his new restaurant after Carmela.
Carmela’s death deeply affects Rocco, causing him to withdraw from those around him and become harsh towards his colleagues in the adult industry. He decides to break away from working for others and establish his own adult film production company. Shortly after its launch, Rocco won an Oscar.
When Lucia meets Rocco, her words suggest she is concerned about his well-being and the toll his current line of work is taking on him. She seems to imply that she doesn’t want Rocco to continue down this path, as it seems to be draining him emotionally.
As the episode progresses, Rocco attends the Cannes festival, where his entire family, except for Tommy, surprises him by showing their support. During the ceremony, Rocco wins the award for the best European adult star.
Meanwhile, back in Ortona, Tommy gets into a confrontation with some gypsies, leading to a violent altercation where he attacks one of them. In retaliation, the gypsies stab Tommy and set his new restaurant ablaze. Fortunately, paramedics arrive in time to rescue him from the burning building, saving him from a fiery death.
